XF looks and feels very good (if you like that sort of thing)

Don't know about LR one.

I understand it is being held back for Euro 5/6 emissions standard in 2009. Twin sequential turbos?

Strangely the new Jag Xf is coming out with a 2.7 litre diesel. Why not a new 3.0?

Maybe it only needs a 2.7 to make it go
And maybe the marketing bods decided to wait till a few years down the line in order to add an additional model or temp early buyers into upgrading ?
Its not at all logical to the consumer but its all very logical to the manufacturer.

Because the new 3.0l isn't ready yet 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I finally decided to go for another car than the Disco.
I had one a few years ago and now drive a X3.
I want now want to replace my X3 and considered going back for a Disco, because it was my best car ever.
I will get back to the Disco if there are really major changes on it:
- like an engine with less CO2. In France, being above 250 g per km means an awfull lots of taxes ! The X5 SD does 216 g for a 286 HP. The D3 is 270 for 290 HP. That is a crime.
- a better interior (the new one is already a huge step ahead)
- a very much better rental policy (in France LR are miserable for company cars in comparision with BMW and Volvo)
In two years time, I may be back to the Disco... Except if somebody announces me a big change on the Disco in the weeks that come. My fifth Disco ...

Cedwat - somehow I don't think you will have much luck with your third requirement...same problem in Luxembourg. Despite the Discovery having one of the best residual values in the UK it doesn't reflect that with continental european leasing contracts. Something I faced when I looked at different offers.
Still went ahead and ordered a D3 a couple of weeks ago though...

And DG - glad you have finally come up with that one...rather than the usual "it will be out 3 days after your 2.7 is delivered..." [/quote]
