As above.... it will be interesting on this forum over the next couple of years where our general readership go when they make the decision to trade on their D3/4 through age...
I think new technology will have a growing impact on our choices of replacement vehicle but that aside I generally think JLR will lose that allegiance to the Discovery model....
As stated before I do quite high mileage in my job and thus have to change every 2/3 years regardless...
The D5 made no sense to me financially when it was going to cost me more than an RRS...
Are we all just passing through with the ownership of a Discovery... it’s a shame as the D4 I owned was still the most practical car i’ve ever owned...

+1 for the D4. Times move on however and so do our choices in vehicle.
The main problem I have with the D5 apart from cosmetic crap, is the price to get an acceptable spec and the accelerated depreciation.

That’s peoples thoughts on Land Cruisers? I know they are more agricultural, but might they be a vehicle where the typical D4 owner moves to if the D5 is not to their liking.
At least Toyota still have off-road credibility.

We’ll have to retarget this forum, sounds like it’s going to need a ‘D3/4 Appreciation and rememberance area” where all the ex owners can come and discuss what they bought, and why, and generally remember why we all ended up here!

I've never owned a D3/4 - went from D2s to FL2s because money was tight back then/D3 price jump and didn't initially like the D3 square look especially losing the rear wheel
The D4 grew on me after MY10 RRS woes so I came here for research from Freel2/RRSport and never left
I gave LR another chance with a MY13 RRS (SWMBO prefered it to D4) and then a MY16 DS but in the end gave up
I still enjoy the banter/keeping in touch on Martins forums and can honestly they are the most interesting Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
