Mine is original - so 13 years old. Just going to replace it, as a preventative measure.
As kajtzu said, there are probably other options out there, $60 sounds expensive to me for a brass one, genuine LR job is £8
I think yours is fine for a good few years yet

Yeah, I’d imagine it’s cheaper to buy roughly the equivalent at a hardware store for significantly less.. not everyone knows this, of course, so I imagine they’re selling convenience.
Mine is plastic. I’ve got a new one as a spare and will change it when I change the coolant.

I just priced up a 10mm brass T piece and a 10mm brass rad valve off ebay uk and it's about £7
If your handy with a soldering iron, I think you could knock a unit up in a hour or two

Well cant see me letting go of mine in the foreseeable future. Over 2years+ and the love is still there.
Replaced the anti roll bar drop rods in the fading light on Sunday afternoon. OS was a cut off job / NS was a 10min swap out. (Picked up as a minor fail under the new MOT). Looked at them once removed and thought "they look okay, the LR MOT tester must have been having a bad day".
Wow what a difference. The odd rattle I used to have on the rough stuff (which I thought was the UJ on steering) has gone. Car steers as nicely as my JCW.

I guess I also need to replace these too as hearing slight bang on rough terrain, what was the part number and what is the best way to check if the noise is actually coming from them?? 2005 D3 V8 SE
2005 D3 V8 HSE gone

Nearly up to 2 years in this one, and it's still everything I need and want in a car. I don't know what I'd upgrade to, unless I could import a 5.0 D4.
Sadly my previous V8 is one of the ones that has been scrapped

Even with these off I couldn't tell that they were making the noise. One had previously been replaced. One looked original. So 13 years old. The ball joints on the original were stiff.
Not sure the part no. Just walked across to the parts department and asked for a set. Not expensive at £60 ish.
