Scotland 2009 Discovery 3 TDV6 XS Manual Zermatt SilverDiscovery 3

Just been out in the Disco to the supermarket and don’t know why I bothered. Car park was chaos with vehicles abandoned all over due to piles of snow and lying snow. We just parked in a space with snow and slush, safe in the knowledge the car would get out no bother.

Shelves empty but we weren’t really bothered as we only went on the off chance there was milk. There was milk and a poor Tesco staff member who was telling folk they could have only 2 each (folk were trying for 6 of the large ones and giving the poor lad dogs abuse when told 2 only).

At the check out, the lass said that the bread delivery had arrived and whilst the man was unloading , folk were climbing in the back of the wagon and knicking the bread! What the hell have we become? Mind you, the official “travellers” caravan site is just along the road so I suspect if I was starving I’d know where to go for a loaf.

Cars still abandoned along the road side and a snowplough has managed to partially destroy a couple of speed bumps to make the journey even more entertaining.

Love the Disco in the snow though. Had to take a detour on the side roads for some fun. Very Happy

Just popped up to +2.7c here so shovelled off the 1/2 inch or so of snow from last night and got some salt down. Will hopefully stop it icing up where we (and the oil tanker) have driven over it. Mr. Green Mr. Green

Glad you got your oil delivered. Gleaner was it? Thumbs Up

Absolutely. They are a bit more expensive than Highland Fuels so I get them to price match. The driver said he'd just been up to Tomintoul and had fun with the drifts. Places where cars had turned round were too narrow for his 6 wheel tanker to turn so he just ploughed through. At least the snow gates were open, unlike the time I was coming back from Aboyne one night and the piggin things were closed at Cock Bridge. The roads were totally clear and I had to use the Cabrach road. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Seems to be the first road closed every winter. Cockbridge to Tomintoul. We are good friends with the lady who owns the Bookmark in Grantoon. She comes down from Glenlivet every day and in winter she and her hubby rarely miss getting into Grantown. The former Candy Shop owners did the same from Tomintoul. It’s the way life is up there as you will know. Very Happy

It has to be pretty severe to stop life up here. It helps that we live on the route the ploughs use, only downside is sometimes you have to get over the berm they create.

Saying that SWMBO's just got back from the Co-op and they are a bit low on a few things. But not the crisps, procecco & chocie bar she went in for. Mr. Green Mr. Green

Rolling with laughter Spend a few quid in the Co-op every year. Remember it from the 70s. It has changed a lot from the days it used to sell furniture as well. Enjoy your treats.

My SWMBO has just said you, training for another run shouldn’t be eating that stuff. Just think what I have to put up with. Big Cry

SWMBO is my unofficial coach and she chased me out for a run today, saying I was slacking! Only did 30mins (4.33km) but trying to get my pace up to 5km in 30 mins without dying of respiratory failure!! She then said I should have done to 5km anyway, and that that's my new official minimum. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Mind you, crisps and prosecco was my idea. Whistle

SWMBO is a golfer and likes to remind me that every time she plays 18 holes it equates to around 6 miles. I tell her that if she hit the ball straight it would only be about 4 miles. I suffer. Rolling with laughter when she plays Spey Bay it seems to me like 10 miles but the sausage sannie afterwards is worth it. Thumbs Up

It’s an obsession. Golfers in full flow of conversation are some of the most boring people on the planet. Rolling with laughter

I’m not taking the bait on that one. Going to get some orders about things I have been told to do. What a wimp! Neutral
