Not really. The things that aren't as good irritate and you grouch about them for quite some time. If you move on quickly then the differences aren't that great after all or, to put it another way, the good bits have been replaced by equally good bits.
An example: my facelift RRS1 is different in some areas to my previous "original" RRS1. A couple of the things still bug me because they are an annoyance every day. The rest have faded in to memory because they make no realistic difference. I really thought I'd miss the split tailgate but I haven't, at all. I do, however, find the design of the armrest cubby annoying because I can't now turn over the coin tray to accommodate taller bottles. Why? Because the music USB and ipod sockets are in the cubby lid and have a big lump associated with them which hits the overturned coin tray. Silly bit of design oversight that reduces the usability of the armrest cubby chiller immensely. One has been forgotten, the other continues to irritate and will for as long as I own the vehicle.
It appears that for most of those who moved on to the D5, the differences are so trivial as not to be an issue.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

I wish that were the case for me. Sadly it’s not. Which is why a year ago, I spent 5 days on the internet and telephone to find the right used D4 Landmark, rather than buy a new D5. ☹️2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

It's only natural that there are going to be some with a permanent negative psychosis in respect of it ....yet strangely can't resist talking about it all the time

To them. I'm short so the driving position in an Evoque for instance is pretty crappy, the driving position in the D4 is great. I don't think I'll be buying a D5 as there is someone on the planet who is always right (even more than DG) and she says it's ugly and we're not buying one DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Sadly that wouldn’t be the case. In the D5 there’s no room between the left footrest and the brake pedal for me to stretch out my left leg, which there is in the D3/4. In the D5, if I raise the seat height up to where it’s most comfortable, I don’t have quite enough headroom.
I’ve already mentioned catching my head on the narrower door frames of the D5.
These problems are due to my height, more than poor design, but the D3/4 is far more comfortable for me.
I would also greatly miss the large lower tailgate of the D3/4, which gets a lot of use every week.
These are the main reasons why I’ve had a Discovery 3/4 for over 12 years.
The FFRR is more comfortable for me than the D5, but still requires the removal of a trim panel to free up more room for my left leg.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

You may have a point there DG
It’s just that every time anyone with TDS (Taste Deficiency Syndrome) comes on here to remind D4 users how dated and inadequate their cars are and how perfect D5’s are, it just brings it out in me! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Ah my apologies...I forget that the poor 'D4 users' have to rely on someone who isn't to defend them.

On the contrary, the D4’s a bl***y good car and I’d have very happily bought another new one in September 2017, if McGovern and his lackies hadn’t completely c****d up the replacement
As it is, the FF provides the closest thing to the view from the driver’s seat in a D4 that you’ll get from any of the current range, the glorious SDV8 helps make up for loses in other areas (yes, it’s not perfect, but I wouldn’t pretend otherwise!).2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
