if Ford are fitting an upgraded crank then surely they are admitting a problem which Land Rover should lawfully acknowledge.

Korea
We have good korean friends they said that the korean lr owners group has turned and is now anti-lr. Quite a lot of local press about it.
On a side note tried again to book a 5.0 autobiography ffrr..two main dealers not interested in booking. Only want to sell what they have..no wonder sales have crashed. It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.

If you take that to JLR UK they’ll just say “yes, sir, but you see it only applies to Korea because there are regional differences and ...”
That’s pretty much what JLR Australia are saying.
Their response to my questions
Can you confirm that the TDV6 crankshaft, block, and bearings fitted to the Australian market and Korean market are the same?
&
Can you also confirm that there have been several crankshaft failures in these TDV6 engines.
In fairness they were never going to admit to an issue if they have no intention of having a recall.
”Dear Mr ****,
Thank you for your latest reply.
From your comments received, to clarify, whilst not confirmed, it is likely the part numbers for crank and block are shared. However, there are differences in engine ancillaries, emission controls, and servicing. From a large carparc of operational 3.0L TDV6 engines, we have had very little trouble from this engine.
We take our duty of care very seriously, and should a systematic safety related concern arise, we will in all instances move to address it quickly. To date there has not been cause to act in relation to this engine.
Assuring you of our best intentions at all times.
Kind regards,

Is the key criteria there "Safety Related" then? Love to see them argue that with someone whose engine has gone pop in lane 3 at speed.D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

Had a Passat estate some years ago and they has a series of faulty injectors that when they went the engine management system closed down. After lots of bickering VOSA got involved and made VW recall affected cars for exactly that reason.......

That’s journalism for you though, despite that & whatever magic happens to them it’s an issue that (to the best of my knowledge) LR haven’t commented onPaul.

Crank fire
Some hokey translation
The fire is most likely related to oil dilution which changes the flashpoint of engine oil..causing fire in crankcaseIt is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.

There’s a recall in China for D4, RRS, FFRR affecting ~68000 vehicles. The fix is to replace the engine.. Google translate it yourself.
