If wired correctly rear camera has priority over all other inputs and changes automatically, niether are the can bus wires necessary, in fact it is recommended not to use them as most peeps who have done have done away with them in preference to a micro switch.
TV is a waste of time in my opinion, it cannot legally be viewed while travelling on the satnav screen, in the rear yes providing you can get a consistent signal, it can only be viewed for 5 min max when stood with the engine off as you will flatten the battery.
GVIF will operate on front or rear screen(s) any equipment that has av output connections. I had a DAB radio with usb input that a memory stick with films installed and could be played through the GVIf to front and rear screens.
It is also very easy to fit a front camera that can be switched on via the micro switch and cable that is supplied with a GVIF, this is the one thing I really miss on the D4.
A GVIF although expensive are a very very good investment and highly recommended and are not terribly difficult to install.
