parking cam
Hi
I have looked at a bunch of threads, and just wondered if it's possible to install a reverse parking cam, which displays on the main screen, but more importantly: auto displays whenever you put the car into reverse
I dont want to change my rear view mirror, I dont want another screen/monitor installed. I want to keep things neat and tidy
I have the HSE 4x4 Nav screen and an IIDtool if that helps?

There are 2 ways.
1) Fit a GVIF unit under the seat (quite) expensive) but the best solution.
2) Do the RRS mod, if you are good at small electronics, is cheap but has compromises

thanks
The RRS mode is not great, as you suggest, I am missing icons on the 4x4 page and none of the live metrics are being shown (plus I lose auto brightness)
So if I go for a GVIF, will it automatically switch to the rear cam feed when putting the car in reverse?

Not really my screen was half the price of a gvif and i think just as easy to fit as i have had both and unless you want to use the gvif for tv etc in the front the D4 screen graphics are much better Discovery 3 se gone

that's interesting, thanks geoffsnook
Just for clarity, does it matter which D4 screen I pick? would a 2010/2011 LR4 touch screen be compatible?
I think I'd prefer an updated screen over wiring in a gvif (assuming there is no downside or loss of functionality/display with the newer screen?)

My GVIF always switches to reverse camera, but it did need 2 can bus wires connecting to the nav under the seat.
If you can get a d4 display, that is a nice route to go

Search on here for a D4 screen in a D3 it tells you which one to get its got to be a certain seriel number to work did not realise with a gvif you cold wire it so it always works used to find it a pain having to make sure it was on sat nav to make it work hence the D4 screen Discovery 3 se gone
