I'm sure that I've read somewhere that Shell have paid compensation because of people mis-fueling due to their ill-differentiated pumps. Their super-premium fuel nozzles (blue?) get confused for diesel by punters. It may be worth pursuing if all else fails.

That's BP Rob, Shell are easy to tell apart, their petrol is green or red for V-Power and diesel is black or black & white for V-Power The End

Agree, BP´s habit of having both an "Ultimate" diesel and petrol AND black hoses on all fuels beggars belief.
Can´t comment on Shell but a shame if they are easily differentiated and you still suffered...
No doubt some lawyer will soon sue LR for NOT fitting the FFRR device to every possible LR vehicle.... Cheers

Well i got a reply as below
With reference to your telephone call of the 4th February 2008.
We confirm, if the damage is found to be as a result of putting the
incorrect fuel into your vehicle, then the damage is covered under section
1 of the policy.
Our approved repairers only deal with repairs to the bodywork they do not
deal with mechanical damage. We note your vehicle is about one year old and
is probably still under warranty. We therefore, strongly suggest you take
your vehicle to your main dealer and forward an estimate for the cost of
repairs to us.
so its looking good but dont count the chickens just yet Thank you NFU

Stick up some pix of yours, eh?
Glad to see the insurers will cover the damage.

OK, so the fact that after 20 years driving the missus is still too scared to fill up her own car could in fact be a good thing
Hope all goes well with the insurance claim - anyone tried this on LR's own policy (just in case I show her where the filler cap is!)?
