Loud bang and engine dead!
Cruising down the A21 yesterday - 65 - 70 mph - when suddenly a loud bang, a judder and engine is dead, fortunately I was able to get to the side of the Pembury slip road before running out of momentum.
AA and police attended and was towed to a safe position in a nearby Tesco car park, AA/Land Rover Assistance declared engine seized solid!! Now awaiting LR Assistance to collect car - it is a MY11 XS on extended LR warranty with only 42000 miles on clock - we have had the car since new, also awaiting hire car as we are in the middle of no where south of Battle in Crowhurst Park -- let's see what happens and if the extended warranty was worth its cost!LR Discovery 4 XS pulling an Airstream 532 Caravan also own (since new) a 1996 MGF
You should be OK with the extended LR warranty provided that you have a full JLR service history.
Good luck & please keep us informed.

It's posts like this that makes me wish I wasn't hooked on TDV6s and this forum, but there is no alternative
Good luck with your claim, providing servicing is up to date you shouldn't have a problem. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Last time I used LRA (last year) LRA only cover up to 3 days, but usually then they ask the dealer to take over the hire of the car..
maybe speak to the dealer now to make sure they are happy with it, they may offer a courrtsy car instead.. I ended up with a JAG XE, which I hated, but it was free
They had the car for 3 weeks..Disco4 MY16 SDV6 Landmark Black

I had a brand new Evoque for more than a week. It was supplied by Stratstones who were doing the work under a LR extended warranty. Perhaps they were only able claim back 7 days, it was never mentioned. Probably because it was there own loan car and they made good money out of the labour.
If the loan car was from Enterprise etc. then no doubt it would be different.
Do hope it’s all sorted out satisfactorily.👍2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Sorry to hear this Ted.
At least you manage to coast to a safe place - cant imagine what would happen if one of these occurrences happened while belting down he fast lane of the M25.
I cant imagine any other brand getting away with this and shrugging their shoulders with it.
Keep us informed Sir.
Cheers.
Dave
