IID BT - 1st time use and Q's
For the benefit of those who had bought their IID's in the recent group buy, and for those in the future, I have put together this little guide to help those get started
There will be slight differences, as I am a Beta tester, so ignore anything you see with reference to Beta
Download the appropriate tool for your Apple/Android device, search for IIDControl
Unpack the tool, and take it to the car. Plug it into the OBD port, and switch on the ignition
Ensure your Bluetooth is switched on, and open the App on your device. At the bottom of the screen, it will say "Search for Tool"
Press this, and the device will automatically find the new IIDTool
Once this has loaded up, tap the area of the screen that contains your chassis number. You will be greeted with this
Click "Yes", and name your tool ( )
Once loaded up, this will be displayed. This is in Limited Mode, and while some functions are available, it needs to be unlocked. Tap "IIDTool Config"
Tap "Unlock IIDTool"
The device will need to be turned vertical for this next step, as it is not displayed horizontally
Make a note of your Activation code
If you are an existing IID user, you can login to your "MyGAP", or if a IID new user, you will have to register a new account
Clicking on "Login" or "Register" will take you to the GAP Diagnostic website.
Once registered, click onto the "MyGAP" tab at the top of the page
Click on "Activate My Product" from the menu at the left side of the page
Fill in the details, and enter your Activation code
Agree with the disclaimers
Your Unlock Code will be emailed over to you. Mine took 30 seconds to arrive, and went into my Junk folder
Enter your Unlock Code into the box at the bottom of the screen, and press Unlock. Again, it has to be vertical to see the screen
It will unlock, and begin backing up the cars current settings
Once it's all done, it will display "Tool Activated"
Your tool is now ready to use, but it would be wise to ensure the Firmware is at the latest level before playing
Go back to the GAP homepage, login again, and go to "MyGAP"
Select "Updater Download" from the left menu

Download the appropriate version, and install

Once installed, open up the updater. Unfortunately, I have no idea how it looks on a Mac, but I imagine it will be pretty similar. Connect the tool, and click find device
From here, you can see the Current Firmware (B2948 ), Release Firmware (B2309) and Beta Firmware (B2520)
If your Current Firmware level is already higher than the Release level, then you don't need to do anything.

If you do have to update, click on the appropriate selection, and click Program Firmware. You need to be connected to the Internet to update

Once completed, you need to update, again, ensuring you are connected to the Internet

With the IIDTool stick connected to the USB port, open up the App, and click on "Search for Tool" or "Connect to Last Tool"
Click on the green "IN BOOTLOADER" text
Select Yes, to confirm
The App will update itself
When done, Disconnect
The tool is now at the latest Firmware release, and is ready to use
Make sure you have a good power supply in place before editing any CCF files, and flashing any modules. It is a wise move to read the User Manual first too, but using the App is all fairly straight forward.

One thing to point out here:
Mike's IID is a Pro, and so the Sat Nav on the Move (SNOTM) firmware is built in. For the IID BT, an additional firmware version will be listed (labelled "special") which must be loaded to enable SNOTM. The normal firmware can be re-loaded again afterwards. Thanks Mike, I wish I'd had your guide when I set up my IID!
One thing I didn't /don't do is connect up to tool to the app while it's still plugged into the USB. Once mine is updated, I just unplug it, loading the app once the tool is in the OBD port. It still works ok doing it this way, but am I upsetting something?

No problem doing that, but it will need access to the internet to update the app config files. If you are at home within wifi range, then you won't notice much delay, but if you are on mobile data it will take a few more seconds.Mark.
