Just a question, I have gone through the set up procedure ( thanks Mikey ), but one thing worries me, in that my vehicle VIN did not appear as it should, ie, the last six digits were all shown as zero's on the iPad / IID screen. Is this going to cause a problem?

That's just a setting in the IID app, just in case you want to email your fault codes and obscure your vin. You can change it in the app settings

Aaah, so hopefully nothing to worry about, I was beginning to wonder if it would mess up the registration / locked to my vehicle details.........Many Thanks tayaste.
EDIT...... just had chance to look into this, so for other IID BT newbie's possibly noticing the same ...... tap 'settings' (cog icon), at bottom of initial app page, which gives a couple of VIN display options, plus a few others. Mine had been set to obscure last six digits, and obscure VIN in e mails, already I had not selected these Don't know if this is normal when using app on an iPad for the first time When I opened the IID app on my iPhone, and checked the settings, these options were NOT selected. Which is how I would expect it to be.

Right i have Q's.
I am a complete coward when it comes to diddling with the Discos computer but now i have the thing i want to try it out!
So. Fault reading. That is simple, reads the ECUs and then you can either read the or clear them. That seems sorted. Current had a number of faults with the ABS and transfer box and an unknown fault with the engine. But that was on the day the tracker was installed so imagine it was something to do with that. So cleared them all.
Now i get a tad nervous about reading CCF Or is it CFF (i can't remember now!). So are there certain things that i should definitely stay away from that will brick my car?
1. Is there a way to back the current config of the car so if i accidentally mess something up i can just restore it to its previous state?
2. I want to do is find out how many keys have been programmed for the car. So which heading is that in?
3. Getting live values, like oil levels etc. I assume its in live values and then what do i select from there?
4. Adjust the locking so a single press deadlocks the car rather than the double press.
I know these are probably super simple Qs and i have read through the manual but it is very high level and doesn't get into the all the menu options.

Flashing ECUs (which includes the CCF) does carry risk. GAP rate the risk for each flash in their guide. Flashing requires a large amount of power and voltage fluctuations/drops can cause failures - for long flashes, additional power may be needed (NB: A standard charger is NOT suitable for this). GAP also advise on this in the manual.
Aside from the general risks, the IID is very reliable with recovery features built in.

Automatically done by the IID.

Not sure how one would go about that.

Choose "Select Tested Live Values" (Can't remember if that's the exact wording?) and you will be presented with a list of live values by ECU.

I'm all activated and had a little play...
Boy, uploading a configuration change is scary !
All good though....but...
I have a 2005 HSE and tried to switch on 3 Flash Indicators, as my vxr does that, I assumed it would flash three with just a single flick up of indicator.....
Doesn't seem to work.
Do I need to ugrade instrument pack software to enable it?
Any help appreciated....
Cheers

Yep, need to update the Body Control Module, read the manual first though on this one, there's a couple of precautions to take.

Never had a BCM flash fail with the IID, but make sure you start with a fully charged battery, or additional power supply, just in case My D3 Build Thread

Since arriving home on Saturday to my new iid tool, I have updated and enabled everything there is to enable.
I retro fitted a phone module today and enabled it.
Been stuck twice doing everything and I if had studied things a bit harder I would have needed no help.
The tool is great to use especially on iPad, I don't get people being nervous and panicking over doing something with it. Everything is laid out well in the menu system and gives you plenty of options before committing to changes you have made.
Wish I had bought one when the BT model 1st came out. Money well spent.

Coming up now to the first battery change on the MY10 D4 after is went completely flat yesterday. Alternator ok
I believe the battery needs to be shutdown electronically before being connected. Is this something the IIDTool can do and if so how?
Or do I just let everything go to sleep and disconnect, like the D3 ?
