Here is the problem. Not really keen on spending another £125 for this when I bought another one.
On the other hand I don't seem how it could be different from the one we've got (except it HAS a jumper insider to clear the faults if they arise). It has only connection to Wbus, not canbus...
The headlight flash style FBH controller also is w-bus only, not CAN, so I am struggling to see how it won’t have the same potential issues as shown in the video above, with early flame detection errors being logged.
The only way to tell is for someone who has one to do some testing for us all I suppose to see if their claim of ‘no faults’ is true.
I do believe that many people might not even know they have a problem because they consistently use the remote control function when they have fitted it, so might not realise that the car isn’t then controlling the FBH in an OEM way any more afterwards when faults are logged etc.

Actually, now that I think of it and aside from the W bus controller issues. Do you know if the Webasto Thermo Test 2.16 engineering software will allow a change to the programmed start temp default of 6°?
The issue came up in another thread earlier in the week where the start temp on the D3 is set too low at 6°. I suggested to the OP that you might have some insights as to whether it can be increased to 8° as on the D4 by using the WTT 2.16?
It would be worthwhile if it can be changed!
I don’t believe this temperature setting is a thing that is set in the FBH itself, I think it is built into the wider car logic systems, probably the engine ECU or similar, issuing a request via CAN for FBH heater assistance to aid warm up.
I don’t know if it is something that the makers of IID could look into perhaps?

Just to muddy the waters I always unlock my car and get in before turning the module remote off and sometimes I even start the car then turn the remote off so the heater keeps running and I have never had the heater lockout or had the heater or the car throw any codes.

How interesting, given that you are using the same FBH controller that I had issues with. So if you scan for codes with IID / iCarSoft etc you don’t have any fault codes logged in the Aux Heater?

I bought one of these before the prices went up.
And no fault codes?
Well that throws another spanner in the works now. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Just to clarify, I have no FBH codes when I scan the car and the FBH has never locked out and has always started when it should- but I have never talked to the FBH using the Webasto software.

Have you done the 07> firmware flash with IID? I wonder if there is something in there that's making a difference!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Honestly I've no idea what version my car is on. Its a 56 plate SE and I've personally never updated anything, previous owner had it looked after by Taunton LR and I doubt they would of touched anything.

I can't say the update does have any impact on the FBH.
If you have the clock in the centre of the instrument binnacle it has been updated, if not it's as it left the factory.
It's just curious both you and itguy are (were) running the same W-Bus converter with different operational outcomes. The only difference I can see is that yours is an MY07> and his is an >MY06.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

I have the clock on the dash but it does not look the same as some peoples I have seen. The clock is not visible all the time at the top of the screen, it is only viewable on one page. Like the MPG etc

Fitted one of these on the D3, works a treat and has the added benefit of doubling up as a diagnostics port for the Webasto software. (I Already owned the Disco3 lead from the shop but for those who don’t)
It’s now saying out of stock, but only bought mine last week so may be worth checking in with the guy to see when more will become available. 👍🏼
