Cheap one. Your only going to break the crank tool.

Hi Guys,
Day 1 of replacing the oil pump and belts... Starter Motor was a to get out.
Stuck now as only had the locking pins and not the correct crank locking nut (303-1123) don't feel brave enough to just use the locking pins in case it shears off and the timing/engine.
Seen this ropey looking cheaper thing on eBay but don't trust that either -
Any recommendations? Seems a little pricy but then maybe can sell after as probably won't have to worry about this again (hopefully)
1st time doing this and don't want to the engine SWMBO would not be happy

Bobmclane - hi, I hope your having more fun than I am.
it's not quite as dark an art as I've painted it, if you follow the advice.
Can't believe this schoolboy error.
It's all in the name apparently.
This is an Oil Seal Crankshaft Front. What I need is a Crankshaft Oil Seal.
I can't see myself (willingly) getting into that arena, any use to anyone?
What's a few more days?

I can't say I recognise that, how, why, what, where did you dig it up? yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Prof
they're both off the AF website.
I do have to hold my hand up to incompetence, as I'd already trashed the earlier one so knew what I was looking for.
I've already got a genuine replacement seal from elsewhere and have a 'creative' idea about how to do a better job of fitting it this time.

Actually, it reminds me to say make sure the plastic washer inside the crank pulley is still in there or you will have to remove the pulley again afterwards. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

You might not have noticed the washer. I never saw it when I did my pump/belts, but there was someone on here that suddenly found his washer lying in the drive after everything was back together. That's not the most pleasant of surprises...

Chris, Prof - I can't see the washer you're referring to.
Are you able to identify it on this image?
Thanks

Is that it in No'47? It's similar looking with three locating tangs on the outer edge.
I'll have a look when I finish work and see if I can pin it down for you.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Thanks gents.
No. 47 is the oil seal.
I'd really appreciate a photo as could do without the following success turning to failure.
Couldn't bare to wait for the VR oil seal with fitting tool, so as I had another genuine LR seal, I drained the drink of SWMBO and set to work on a branded 1 of 1 bespoke tapered tool of my own.
No laughter please as it worked like a charm.
At this stage I was able to rotate the seal and check round the back, with the mirror-on-a-stick, that the inner lip remains ramped towards the inner face of the oil pump. Unlike last time.
I used a short length of poly pipe which fitted the seal perfectly to wind it home using the old crankshaft bolt.
Success in my book, unless you're about to ruin my day/life????
Pulled the seal from the old oil pump but couldn't find anything like you're describing in there.
