Hazards flashing when driving please help in bradford
Wondering if anyone has had similar? At my wits ends! Have a disco 3 56 reg. Had for around 10 years never had anything major wrong drives like a dream but over last few months it’s flashing all hazards, radio goes off, heating goes off, interior light goes on whilst driving and won’t turn off. This can go on for 5 mins to 20 mins and if turn ignition off it won’t start. Been on 3 diagnostics and no one knows what it is, auto electrician no clue. Driving me mad having people telling me hazards on then won’t start sometimes. So frustrating just wondered if anyone has had this with theirs. Taken to check battery today and that is fine. I am stuck on what to do. If we turn ignition off when lights flashing when we try to start it again it won’t start. Is anyone local to Bradford to help thanks in advance

Hi
Fingers crossed someone is near u that can have a look for u
As ur battery is ok I’m wondering if ur instrument cluster is at fault, they can suffer with dry soldered joints and need to be sent away , others have used the company Totaltronics
But of course don’t want to send it away without ensuring 100% that’s at fault
Plse let us know how u get on

Would this make the radio and heater go off aswel Stuart? And do you know what we need to do to check to see if it is that
Check all the connectors behind the ac panels/ radio etc
I had a loose one that caused this.

Deffinately sounds like your cluster, your dials should likely drop to zero at the same time. In the short term, sounds daft but give it a bang / punch while parked up on the drive and everything is working. There’s a known fault with dry solder on the clusters that go with age and starts putting intermittent faults temporarily then clears again. Giving it a bang or 2 should get it to go faulty, same response when it goes off, give it a bang to get it on again
Long term, give Totaltronics a call, they’ve fixed a number clusters for the forum including mine, 2-3 days postal turn around, they supply video of faults before repair and operate a no fault found no cost policy
As for the faults, a surprising amount of the car electronics go through the cluster including your immobiliser so early fix is recommended.

Do the door locks randomly lock and unlock when the hazards are flashing?
If so, then could be a Canbus wiring fault, would need to be looked at by someone that know what they're looking at. not sure who is in your area but JAS near York would be a good place to start.
As Kevin has said could be the Instrument pack or a bad connection on the Back of it.
Any break or bad connection anywhere on the Canbus circuit and the engine will not start.Stu

It's your instrument cluster. One of the dry solders is cracked
Takes 5 minutes to remove then it's a case of sending it off to get fixed
I had the same problem when I bought mine
I can't tell you where to send it to as I'm not in the UK but I'm sure there are plenty of places that can sort it
