Am I right I’m thinking the access hole is under the engine not on top?
Can’t find anything online showing where to view

My 2 videos on page 1 shows where it is.
It’s between the engine and gearbox. Under the car.
The cable comes out behind the turbo.
I think wire colours and red, white, yellow

Cheers I’ll have a god of this asap
I’m theory, would it rule out snapped crank if I took the cam belt cover off and turned the crank pulley bolt by hand like when I did the oil pump and belt ages ago and turned the crank a few times to see the belt was aligned?
A friend has just said this would answer the question for me
That said - after I have attempted to access the sensor holeDisco 3 SE Manual 2005 V6 2.7

The starter turns the same bit of metal that the crank sensor monitors. So I think your crank is ok

Bit of an update while my hands are resting from the pain!
Sensor is easy to find - just follow the oil sump sensor wire up and it splits off to the crank sensor. Can easily see it lay under the car eye line under the sump sensor with a torch. Use a long screwdriver to unclip the crank sensor wire clip for some movement and space
If I lay head under the left wheel feet coming out from under right side of engine I can just about get my big hand up to the sensor wiring clip. But it’s really awkward to undo
Been trying to use screwdrivers to gently pull away the clip while I use another to push in the spring locking bit. But so far no joy disconnecting. Gonna try make a few tools to help jam it in place so it can’t move.
I don’t know many with bigger hands than me so maybe a skinny person would get in with ease
Also - my oil dip stick level has definitely risen - it’s about 1cm past the top ball - is this bad? I check regularly and it does appear to have risen. Maybe cos the car is leaning to one side on road level slightly

Hopefully oil level like that just because it’s jacked up.

It’s not jacked up just raised suspension
I park in the same position daily and it’s never gone over the filler level on the stick
Just can’t get the plug undone it’s too awkward
How would unplugging and replugging find a fault? Corrosion on the terminals? Im wondering maybe snip the wires lower down and reconnect them or is that pointless?Disco 3 SE Manual 2005 V6 2.7

Yeah terminal corrosion.
Nah don’t snip them.
It seamed like a sensible thing to try but not if you can’t get your hands in there.
You had better investigate whether you can get some tools in to change the sensor or if it’s a job for someone else.
Check the wiring hasn’t rubbed on metal work

Not sure if this is the same engine.
But the single bolt holding it in is the same

Managed to get the plug undone, cleaned and reconnected - codes cleared but still no joy
Best angle is rest your head on the inside of the front left wheel and you can see the plug pull with left hand and push a long thin metal tool on the clip spring to depress it
I used my turbo actuator tool to hook the plug sensor side and pull down while using right hand to push wiring side if plug in then use a king tool to push the plug on properly so one tool to pull plug down and one tool to push other part of plug up
Regardless - the car still won’t start
I guess I need to get recovered to garage at this point?
No code is coming up for the crank sensor - can’t understand why the brake swarming light is coming on though?

Maybe after 2 start attempts the code will be logged
Worth checking the engine speed live value again I guess.
Any message with that yellow brake light or other codes stored in abs or park brake? I guess that could Be a can bus error?
No park brake auto release
Humm. Is that the cause or as a result I wonder? I guess we should take it more seriously
I guess it’s finding a garage that is confident in sorting ?

If there is a wiring fault with the fly lead it might be that you have disturbed the problem when unplugging it, this might account for no DTC now but it should reappear after a few start attempts. If I recall correctly the crank sensor should be visible in "live values" when cranking so check fuse 60 (5A) in the CJB
Whilst talking about fuses it would be no harm looking at the following fuses in the battery box.
The ones worth checking are: Fuse 4 (diesel EMS 25A). Fuse 13 (diesel EMS 10A). Fuse 17 (diesel EMS) 15A. Fuse 27 (ECM 5A).
And while you are in the passenger fuse box checking fuse 60. Have a look at Fuse 25 (ECM 5A), and Fuse 41 (EPB 5A) if the EPB is not working.
It's long shot stuff but easily checked, and you need to be absolutely certain you have eliminated as many possibilities before going in too deep!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
