Yes, but the brake lights do not come on.

3. confirm malfunctioning component. Next logical step. Have you proved to yourself the start button is good?

If 1 and 2 are still valid and/or complete, has 3 been done?

Its a matter of process… Have you looked at the workshop manual? The pinpoint tests continue.
Cheers.

I have only done a continuous test with the multi meter, there is definitely over 12v at the connector, probably next step new switch.
Do the brake lights work when the engine is off, something I have never noticed, mine don’t.
Thanks for your input. Thumbs Up

Yes, and if live values is showing the brake switch in the off position it simply will not start!!!!

FUSES or electrical break/issue! Just replace the brake lamp fuse (14) and never mind checking it. Same goes for any other management fuse. Thumbs Up

Can you have a look in the body control module an see what voltages are present for:
"Active fuel level sensor A" and "Passive fuel level sensor B"

Something seems to be blocking the brake pedal signal and I'm wondering if it's fuel level sensor related?

Spent 2 hours with the Iid tool and I can’t find anything but I have found on YouTube a scheme of the connector socket above the rear NS wheel that give the PIN numbers of the two senders, I will try and access them tomorrow.

Well ive been reluctant to send you chasing the wiring in case I was wrong. However, since you have decided to go that route if that's not the culprit there's the other two connectors I think in the O/S front wheel arch. Thumbs Up

Hi den

Funny enough I thought I read somewhere that near side connector can knock out the fuel gauge and if it also has an epb supply error it can also stop the brake light from working

Saying that would assume there would have been errors so weird that there arnt any

Fingers crossed it’s in that N/S connector and just needs a clean out on the pins

Really hope that’s the issue and isn’t to much hassle to resolve as nothing more frustrating than trying to sort out electrical issues

All the very best to you

Rolling with laughter Thumbs Up

Also think one of the 120 ohm resisters are inside the EPB module and the other in the ECM for one of the canbus sides, if there was an error inside would assume it would show a 120 reading instead of the usual 60 ohms on a canbus test

Sorry I’m waffling again Whistle

I’ve found out the fuel tank senders are now included in the latest version of the Iid tool software, so I’ve been up since 5-00am getting my ancient computer running as I don’t use it much, finally managed to upload the software into the Iid tool, really excited, go outside and plug it in and what’s the first thing it asks me to do?- SWITCH THE Censored Censored ENGINE ON Banging Head Banging Head
