Electrics half dead after waxoil treatment.
Gave the D4 its biannual coat of wax oil with pressure spray gun and lost all fuel gauge reading, nothing showing so I left Ctec charger on overnight, it unlocked OK following morning but now it will not switch on, nothing happens when I press the start button totally dead.
Any advice on what to do next would be greatly appreciated. It can when others can't,

Do you know what the battery voltage is?yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

13.05 volts at battery, 13.5 volts with Ctec connected and saying fully charged, Iid tool says no faults and ign off.
Doors have unlocked OK, hooter and seats works but nothing else.
Thanks for your response. It can when others can't,

I suppose there's no codes logged for any modules because the engine hasn't cycled! What about the earth straps, particularly the one on the front right chassis behind the wheel arch to the engine mount?
Have you "pending faults" selected in GAP? I suppose it would be no harm to check the fuses if you haven't already.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Thanks for the reply.
I have checked all the small fuses but not the large square ones as I don't know which terminal is in or out but I have tried swapping them round like for like.
I have done a continuity test on the earth to engine, also connected a jump lead to the starter sns earth on battery.
No faults on the Iid tool.
Everything is dead but I can lock the car up. voltage has now dropped to 12.59 without the charger connected and the satnav screen has lit up with the message "start engine or system will shut down" It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,

I pressure wash the b#$@&*( out of it. that includes inside the engine compartment.
You already know what I’m thinking…. grounding points or water ingress to the mains or that mega fuse thingy.
Lets start with, the water needs to be displaced, ie chased out of all the electric junction points you may have hit with the pressure gun.

Try a different configuration of the earth jump! Do you have a spare brake light switch?yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Spraying waxoil, that's probably caused the issue, not water.
Just like water gets in the connectors, maybe waxoil has crept in somewhere, trouble is, could be any connector. Great if it was brake switch or earth! Not the dreaded fuel gauge connectors coated in waxoil causing it?

As the car is still on ramps at the rear it is difficult to check the earth thoroughly but I will have another go today.
If the engine earth strap has failed would anything else work?- the car locks and some interior lights come on and I’ve had a faint low battery warning on the dash on for instance, not forgetting the first fault was the fuel gauge failed. It can when others can't,

Apologies, I should have used “conductive dampness” as opposed to “water”.
The good news, there are some electrics coming up. If the battery registers below 12.4v, that could be part of the issue right there.
And if you are not blowing fuses, thats good news too.
The electrical guide shows all grounding points. Do you have a copy? If not PM me.

Some systems will continue to function as they have their own earths, especially if their current draw is very low and the battery earth is good.
Take an earth jump from the engine or to the chassis and see if that changes anything. Do you have another brake light switch?yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Hi mate
May I ask a daft question plse would a canbus test for both ohms and vdc at the obd2 socket be useful to identify if there are any errors in the modules
Many thks as always

Iid tool is showing no faults.
PROFSR G: I don’t have a spare brake light switch, I gave it away
I’m still trying to access the earth cable! - although I have tried a jump lead without success. It can when others can't,
