Best (Average) price for an HSE from a Main Dealer |
|
I have contacted all of my local Dealers to get their 'best' price for an HSE on the road but ive been told on more than on occasion that they wont give it to me and to return to them with my best price.
Buying a car has turned into a bit of a game really with me wanting to buy at the best price and for them to sell at the best profit.
Has anyone bought one recently and has had both a good service and obtained a good price and more importantly would want to share it with me?
I know that this may sound a bit cheeky and a bit of a strange request but we really have hit a bit of a stalemate at the moment.
I dont want to barter garages down to a penny but more importantly i dont want to pay way over the odds.
If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

I would want at least 2k discount. So, go into a dealer and offer them rrp -2k. If they say no, then walk to the next and try again.
If they say yes or maybe, then go to the next dealer anyway, and ask if they can beat the deal you have just been offered. If they still ask you to name the price, then offer rrp -3k, then go back to the first dealer, and ad-infinitum until they all squeal
If they all say no, then I guess there are no deals to be had, but I find that hard to believe.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I did try 'What car' and the chaps there were very helpful indeed. Seems that theres a much bigger discount to be had on the SE but theres about £2800 off the HSE.
Im going to put this to a local dealer tomorrow and see what they say.
One strange thing though, as im more than likely going to be part exing our Disco 2, out of 3 dealers, two told us about a Land Rover loyalty goodwill gesture of £1000 or £1500 for anyone who is part exing a 2 for a 3.
The third dealer didnt tell us about it.
Also, while im off and running, im getting 2 different responses about the Adaptive Headlights.
One dealer has told me that they are now withdrawn from the HSE because they have been problematic and another dealer insists that they are still standard on the 06 model..................

Tony, offer them 38500 for any MY06 and if they accept it, ask for some more freebies. Don't worry! The LR would not go bankrupt, but the dealers would pay more attention to their clients. Just tell them straight that you want to spend no more than 38.5K and you will be surprised how high(or low) they will jump.

Same off my 06 HSE.
Took a while and a lot of conversations with diff dealers.
I concluded that time of the month was a factor, and also the fact my attitude became more confident through having a number of options (new and S/H) on the table.
Got a feeling somehow that UK prices might be continuing to soften

Just a suggestion - why not sidestep all this main dealer pantomime and buy one from Motorpoint (or similar). Same car, same warranty but about £5,000+ less
