Have mailed chaps in Iceland to see what unit and maps they are using, will let you know..
When you visit the Reykjavik area a trip to the glacier is a must. It's about 2+ hours from the city. There are some good routes via rivers and lunar type landscapes. I'll post a few pic's in my gallery to get you tempted
It may be worth doing that trip with a guide or in a group as it's snowy and 1 vehicle could be asking for trouble. We went with 3 and had 2 stuck at times.
I can PM you the email and phone of the chap from Safaris that LR use if you want, really nice chap and very game for a laugh..Off Roading is OK.... But I'd rather be Boating!

Have put a few pic's in my gallery, you will have a great time! We were only there 3 days "working "
Would love to see the rest sometime. Expensive though, are you hotelling, hostelling or camping? And beer £6 a pint!

The LRE guys are using the Garmin 7200 with mapping software provided by the Garmin rep in Reykjavik who also produces and distributes it. Did you manage to get mapping from the internet or shall I get this guy's details for you? All getting a bit close now. Ought to get my home HF setup quickly!
Hope trip goes well, have you got your BGAN terminal for keeping in touch with DISCO3.CO.UK while away!
