OMG - Air Filter
For some reason, and I dont know why I looked there 1st, but my HSE seemed today to be very sluggish, and economy was down to 22mpg. Now this is'nt normal for my D3, so looked at the Air Filter, and it was BLACK, and it was thick black if you can imagine.
My D3 was being strangled, with no proper air supply, yet being properly serviced by a dealer. So after diagnosis I purchased a new filter from the supplying dealership and all is well again.
It seems a stupid idea to have the air filter service so far apart

I dont honestly know there simon, I bought the HSE with 21k in April, and only upto 29k I think. The Dealership serviced it before I collected it, so I assumed all the filters were done, now I think its the next service the air filter would have been done. Stupid if you ask me
LR stipulate the filter is changed at 3 years/45k so it was probably still on the original one. Found this out in a similar way and now change my own at 15kI know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Macleod,
How much did the stealers charge for the filter? There are aftermarket filters available now from Mhale and Fram at around £12 + VAT. If half the price of stealers you can change twice as often

Fram, K & N if you value the TDV6, keep it OEM.

And whilst waiting for a postal filter, and an ebay one I picked one up from the D3's supplying dealer as the motor was being suffocated, and economy went through the floor. Sometimes waiting for the right part at the right price just wont do.
All is well, and its utterly stupid to have a 45k filter change.
