well, I really quite like it.
A few bits I'd change, but not much. There again, there's a few bits I'd change about the d3 too.
It will be every bit as capable off road as the current, so I don't see what the fuss is about. Just means we get to have even more luxury bits to play with when we have our next all purpose utility tip runnng luxurious people mover. Move over D3, papa's got a brand new plaything... Not RRS Brembo brakes - I incorrectly read that into the release doc. Rather, inspired by the twin piston brakes on the RRS but with a caliper that reduces the size of the braking system. So hopefully 18" rims!
Current front discs are 13.5" diameter. If released specs turn out to be accurate, the new ones will be 14.2". I have a RRS HSE (same brakes) with 18s. I just don't see how you could fit an extra .7" of disc in there, unless Land Rover also designed some amazingly low profile calipers for the new cars... The V8 discs are already larger and you can only fit >19" wheels on them.

The release notes in effect says they got clever with the callipers, and a local motoring article reports min 18" rims.
I'd like to know the tyres sizes listed on the 3.0's tyre placard if anyone gets to see one.

I have looked hard at the pics, and read all about the toys. It does look like a RRS from the front at first glance. I wonder what the 2010 RRS will look like
I like it, and see no reason why D4 can't live in the same forum as D3.

Given that the D4 is only a revision of the D3, I would suggest that the tyre sizes for the D4 are likely to be the same as the 18, 19 & 20" sizes on the D3, details of those are in the wiki area. give that RRS and FFRR wheels generally fit as well, I cannot see why LR would change what seems to be a reasonably standardised system, albeit with differences around widths, offsets and weight ratings!
It will be interesting of course to have this confirmed or otherwise though I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Hi SJR,
I was wondering if a narrower tyre than 255 will be listed perhaps as an optional tyre, eg 235/70R17 on the D3. However I have not seen listed a narrower 18" 30" dia tyre, so there probably wont be.
I hadn't expected larger brakes on the MY10 when I cancelled my MY09 order recently to wait for the MY10 and expected to be able to fit 17" rims with LT245/70R17 tyres. Tough tyres in 18" that don't rub are non-existant so I have already acquired some non-LR 17" rims which probably wont fit the D4, although I haven't completely dismissed them yet. They are 390mm dia at the hub flange and 400mm over the discs but that's probably not enough to clear even new slim-line callipers which are bound to protrude more than 20mm from the disc. If by chance they fitted, the 245 width would probably then be illegal, here at least. I'm far from being convinced its worth getting one of the last D3's rather than the D4 just because of tyre availability, but I'm pondering the thought.

More 18" off road tyres are becoming available as more Jap 4x4s are coming out with them.

I can only comment on the rears because they are the only one we are doing. The hi line models (HSE, maybe SE) get calipers and bracket to suit 20" wheels, I guess therefore the disc must be bigger or you would use the 19" bracket

I think the D4 doesn't look all that great in silver, compared to the D3 which looked brilliant at the first reveal. The pictures from the motorshow and elsewhere in the darker colours seem to show that they suit the new grille and lights better.
Would be good to see a D4 in Rimini or Blue.
