Well , guess it's due to the manual shifting, no matter how I drive it's always 19.12 mpg (12,3 l/100 km)
Or there is something wrong with the car...
I do have a roofrack and tent mounted, so that counts
I would be dissapointed with that sort of mpg from a diesel. I would be tempted to take off the roofrack and tent just to see if it made a difference (pure scientific curiosity and all that).
Also, is that a true reading? Does that figure actually relate to the amount of diesel you put in? It could be a few calculations in case it's badly calibtrated.
Failing that, maybe you drive like a looney?
I know that's part of my trouble D3 HSE V8...

I guess the problem's a combination: roofrack & looney
Penguin, the manuals should get better mileage than the autos - Go for new software (13 patch 3), that should help, and the high consumption is enough of a complaint for the dealer to upgrade your car.
Mine told me that they need a recall or a complaint before doing the upgrades, so...

mmm might do that, although I think thay did the upgrade when it was in for the park brake error.
As I drove the car a couple of days after it was only 20.8 MPG
But now it went back up.
And if I drive like a looney, high speeds, fast acceleration the difference is only 1l so 13l/100km or 18 MPG
currently I shift gears at 2000rpm
these values are both calculated as indications
It didn't concern me, knowing that it's a 2.7 V6 engine.
My Def 110 TD5 consumed 15l/100km or 15.68 MPG but sportive driving and high speedsIn a time of chimpanzees, I was a penguin.

Just had a look at my air filter think i'll get a new one tomorrow
As you'll probably know, this can have a big effect upon MPG (or L/100km )
I'll try and get some objective measurement of any improvement over the next week

at 5kmiles now and mine still only averages about 23mpg overall but to be fair
the vast majority of my journeys are sub 3miles on a daily basis, if I actualy let the beast warm up enough it settles into the the 32 to 35 arena on the long and straight routes after about 10miles. I don't think it's any worse than my old TD5 and you can even have a conversation without shouting and theeeeennn......???

Blimey! We mainly drive around the city and average 19 mpg, it was 17 in the winter and that is the TDV6.
Seen 25 on a run though.

my new 06 model has only 800 miles and already we are upto an average (taken from delivery of 3 miles) of 24.5mpg - local stuff as well as one long 95mph motorway run for 3 hours. The car is Turbochipped (which has made a massive difference to drivability - you just couldnt own a standard one after driving a chipped car.......thanks Chris). So i reckon 25-27mpg as an average is achievable once the car is run in and opens up...Discovery 4 TDV6 2010 HSE

My father and i just did a 640 round trip with a trailer, on the way down south the trailer was empty, an doing a steady 65, our TDV6 averaged 19mpg.
On the way home with an old land rover in the trailer, (not weight, just bulk) we averaged 15mpg.
And that was from the Diesel, we are a bit worried about this. If we'd known the economy was going to be like this we'd of gotten the Petrol!!
Is this normal? There is now just over 1400 miles on the clock.
