After 132k miles of motoring and suffering bad back syndrome;
had my base cushion replaced at dealers last week whilst I waited - 2 hrs and £45 +vat for labour.
[got seat base cushion from TLO for around £27]
Thing is, the old one didn't look as deformed as I thought it would compared to the new one.
So is it worth it ... NO in my opinion!...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Thanks Ron. Can I ask how much you weigh? Trying to work out what a difference mine would make. Passenger side is much more firm/comfy than driver's side.2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

I am going to get mine changed next week as it was agreed it was done when I purchased the D3 but was missed.
It is also worth replacing the cover as well if yours has seen better days - cause you will always be thinking I wish I had done both at the same time !SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

Just be aware that when they change the base cushion, the heated seat element pad is glued to the original.
Initially the dealer who was replacing mine said that would cost an extra £70.
Told him to forget it as that would then be classed as two separate jobs.
Just asked them to carefully peel off the heated seat pad and use a glue to stick to the new base.
That is what they did.
Although I said there is not much difference, yes the seat appears firmer, but looking at the old cushion nothing looks wrong with it.
Not been able to give the seat a decent try as I'm not driving just now because of back trouble....... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Which bolts should i take off to remove the seat? I see 4 bolts in top of each rails, are they the right ones? Should i also disconnect battery to avoid airbag explosion?
Thanks for your help
Theres four bolts - 1 at each end of the runner. Remove the plastic assembly around each of the runners and then remove the four bolts.
I didn't disconnect the battery and nothing happened.

I also had my front seat bases/cloth changed as the cloth had wrinkled up in the center and at the sides too.
For me, the new seat bases are MUCH better....a lot firmer and with more lateral/side support.
I weigh the same as ronp and I didn't notice anything wrong with the old bases (the cloth yes, but the actual bases no), but I much prefer the new firmer bases...
I hope this helps,

Number31 a big for you!
Just bought the seat base and cushion from Dunc and these piccies are just perfect.
One question, how easy does the backrest come of? Or is that independant from the base?CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

Four t40 bolts secure the seat pan to the frame, undo these and the seat base is free other than the electrical connections. These will be different dependant on options. The main connections are linked together in a large multi plug. I had to release this and separate the sides with a 7mm (?) socket, once the male and female sides are seperated I disconnected the heated seat connector allowing me to extract the seat base. One of the cables needed a cable tie snipped as well.
The seat base is independent of the back rest.
The hog rings can be bought in Machine Mart and the Sealey hog ring pliers came from Morley Motor Factors in Derby. Sealey have an offer on car tools at the moment, the pliers (hrp002) are reduced to 9.95+vatNumber31

I dont have the heating element in my seats, that should make it easier I suppose. Are the hog rings used to attach the leather cover to the base? Cheers.

Good job & write up No31
When removing the heated seat element, did this come away easy enough?
I had my seat base renewed by a dealer on my old Disco3 while I was waiting and Service dept came to me saying they had problems removing the heated element as it had moulded into the old seat base [they were obviously expecting me to ok a new heated element]. I told them then just to be carefull when they take it off.
They did, and all was sorted & working ok.
edited to add: just realised I've repeated myself as I already posted comment on this thread further up the page....... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Brilliant - Many thanks
My drivers seat is loose, the heated seat isn't working despite the lights working and I want to replace the foam
