I went to the local stealer today and was quoted "about £50k" for a D4 HSE! I asked about discount and was given the bo**ocks about made to order, huge demand etc, etc so no discount. As I turned to walk away he said they might be able to do a little. Right, next stealer on the list. Bulk discount???? I want cameras and screens in headrests too. Honestly Marge, I wouldn't have done it if I thought you would find out!

10% in you wait for 01/03/10 delivery I would guess. Its a commodity which has an artificially high list price IMHO. 2014MY Discovery

Thanks for the previous post. I got a quote and they are very good and their communication is excellent and no s**t. Realistic part ex quote too so I may well be throwing some money at them soon. Thanks Ooop North but to me your more Out West. Good tip though. Have you bought one yet? Honestly Marge, I wouldn't have done it if I thought you would find out!

micro - no, not bought one yet - need some more business in first (went self-employed a few months ago - going pretty good but not generating enough cash yet to splash out. Want to have drive of D4 so I can see if worth spending so much more than getting secondhand D3 - either way, need to wait a few months

I understand completely Mr North, it can take a few years of being self employed before it's safe to splash out. I've had my businesses for 25 years and I still feel hesitant. What is your line of business over there in sunny Preston? Honestly Marge, I wouldn't have done it if I thought you would find out!

Am a forensic accountant - preparing reports for lawyers and insurers on the value of losses arising from personal injury, fatal accidents and clinical negligence, also commercial claims of various sorts. Have been doing since 1991 but only self-employed since March this year
have a small number of clients who like my work very much and need to expand that - going pretty well but need to get lots more in before I can buy a D4 for cash
Went to look at the D4 at the dealer yesterday - new interior very nice (why non-black carpets? would soon get very grubby - although I'd almost certainly choose black interior to avoid that problem), the front looks OK but not sure about the rear. The rear lights look yuk to me - from the side you can just see a load of silver shiny plastic. Not what I'd call utlitarian... bit poncy urban. Overall, though, liked very much
Didn't spend long looking - just 5 minutes before they closed as I was passing so didn't really study them very well (HSE in the showroom GS3.0 outside) but re the rear lights on the GS - look different on the website with red areas around the chrome - on the one I saw yesterday there were no red areas
Oops - (edited to add) forgot to say, just spotted that buyacar.co.uk offering around 12.5-13% on discos

If that was Brock then I was there last thing Sunday, I like the hse colour but not sure it will go with black interior. I think you need a good run of 80 hour working weeks over there in sunny Preston! Honestly Marge, I wouldn't have done it if I thought you would find out!

I'm trying to decide betrween a new D3 and a new D4 (GS autos).. Drive the Deal were nearly £3,000 cheaper for a D3 than a local dealer, who had told me the price was discounted at £29,700. Drive the Deal was £26960, both same spec. (autos inc. met paint). Guess the dealer wasn't discounted enough.
A couple of questions as on some discount sites the prices are very close.
What's a 'Convenience Pack'? A loo in the back...??
Does the D4 2.7 have the same engine and 'box as a D3?? Is it only the D4 3.0 litre which has the twin turbos? Anyone know? I'm wary of buying ANYTHING secondhand right now as prices are so inflated.. Local non-franchised dealer wants £25k for an '08 GS auto with 11k on the clock. Not with a new one at £27K! Make the most of this life, you may not have a Landy or skis in the next one.
2xS3, 1xD1, 3xD2, 2xD3, 2x110, 2x90TDi, 4x90V8, 4x90TD5.
Now: Jetta 2.0 TDi DSG, D3 auto gold.

1. Hmmm, don't think it's worth paying another 5 grand for one, then..
2. Thought so..
3. Thanks! Make the most of this life, you may not have a Landy or skis in the next one.

I've just become a farmer. By joining the NFU you get a voucher for 5% off a new Land Rover ... including the D4. That's worth nearly £2.5k on a HSE ... Paul
