Quality Street size?
I'm with Ken, irks me that vunersble or ill thought out pieces of design are the cause if hassle.
No doubt my epb will be full of sand thereby costing landrover money to sort and me inconveniece.
Just for info DG, my father in laws defender suffered the same fate as yours. Alternator full of mud.
25 years age difference in the vehicles and the same problem, ironic eh?
The oldest car there and the newest failing lol

I suppose that LR are keen to give the impresion that these vehicles will take anything that can be dished-out. I know that LR's specifications for the starter motors for the 3.0 TDV6 (don't know about the 5.0 V8 ) in the D4 includes working whilst submerged and that at least 1 manufacturer declined to quote as they thought there would be too many warranty claims because they say its impossible to make such a starter motor.

Whilst in general there should be an expectation for these things to just work ...I appreciate that it's only a machine and that can fail. It could have been on it's way out and just helped along by Hogmoor's mud ...or I took it beyond it's parameters. Confused

Is the alternator on the D3 sealed and water cooled? i'm sure i read that somewhere. Seems a complicated but sure way of dealing with mud/water ingress to a low hanging part so to speak.
