Re: LED Rear Stop/Tail Lamps |

The lower of the two lamps on each side is only a tail lamp - but still uses the same stop/tail fitting (not connecting the 21W element) and so it's an expensive exercise to buy LED's .. when the brake part stays unlit forever..
Didn't realise this -a useful fix then when the brake light bulb goes (again, & there's no time to get another) would be to swop the upper & lower bulb!
BTW Where did you get your LED's eventually? Richard

If these are the LR Bumper/Nudge Bar mount driving lights, I had them on my MY03 Disco.
The standard 55W H1 globes warped the Protector Grilles.
I'd be concerned they'd warp the reflector, or the lense.

Apologies to all - major disaster, when laptop (+camera) got nicked on a flight back from Malta... whilst on flight!! Was in the bag when I got on the flight, and noticed it was gone as I was waiting for the checked baggage!!!
Never noticed a thing...
Now have new laptop - and will post pics when I get back from this trip - around 26th June.
Cheers,

this is interesting I always thought when replacing "normal" bulbs with leds your required resistors.
In particular for rear lights and brake lights.
I was aware with some motors you ca get away with changing the side lights bulbs. F&M

Hey guys,
Even better if you can help a lady out and tell me what type fitment is required for the rear bulbs. Better half is off working and he won't have a glue ayway.
Tanks in advance,

I like the idea of the LEDs that signal fast braking. Did you ever find out what specific LEDs (from ultra LED) to use for rear replacements? Zambezi Silver SE / Ebony Leather

The rear bulbs have offset pins. Both sets (all four) have this arrangement, though the tail lights only use (and are only wired for) the 5w element of the 21w/5w bulb...
This means in effect the 21w element of these bulbs is never used.
I bought some UltraLed bulbs, and yes these are bright, effective and FAST illuminating. They may actually be slightly brighter than the standard bulbs - but I'd personally rather that than have someone join me in the car from having rear-ended me.
My order history was lost with my missing PC along with my pics - but now I have a new camera - I'll take some more and post them.
I'm back in the UK tonight, so will try and get these pictures done within 24hrs, and find the invoice to give you the info on the bulbs I have.
Hope that helps a bit...

Insurance took longer to replace my kit than I wanted.
Now back after a holiday fully connected... and with new PC and camera.
Took some pics tonight and posted them on my gallery of the tail lights converted to LED.
The bulbs shown are UltraLED - the link is:
