Great photos thanks Muddy. I checked my rear lights after seeing these piccies, and I don't have any lights as long strips in the rear bumper (they are just reflectors I think) nor the vertical rectangular jobbies - is this another item we are missing downunder? Itried both rear fogs and brakes but no joy.[/img]Why have I never felt this way about a 4WD before?
Maybe one of you guys who are also fitting these LED bulbs can take a photo with the LEDs on one side and the original bulbs on the other?Matt

Good point Matt ...and maybe one with brake lights on and off 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
Yes, right - the reflectors are just reacting to the camera flash.
I did think about doing some shots of bulbs vs. LEDS but since I was short of time - and have only just replaced my PC and camera - I had more important things to do - like re-creating my work diary and syncing to my PDA....!! (Boring but true)
Also trying to do shots of Brake lights on/off when you are on your own is not impossible - but tricky!
I gave up because by then the bottle of Becks was calling...!
The LED lamps I installed are BRIGHT - but you can order the 'lesser' number of LEDs in a slightly smaller version - and it may be that these are actually better - given there are four tail lamps...
No-one has flashed lights at me or complained, and the incidence of any tailgating on the M6 (regular haunt of mine) seems to have reduced, though that may be because people are becoming more considerate drivers...!
In any case, the LED lamps were put in because they definitely react faster, and if it gives someone behind even 2 inches more stopping distance, it may be the difference between a shunt/no shunt.
I also do a very high mileage, am often away from home, can't be ars*d to carry spares - and don't want any excuse for being stopped...!
Cheers
Muddy

Thanks mudplugger,
The LED lights that you specified look really good. I've just been out and taken a few photos of them on mine and very pleased.
I did look at the other LED bulb from UltraLEDs, the U38035R bulbs having more LEDs and being brighter still, yet was concerned that they may not fit the lamp housing, or they could be just too bright!! I'd be interested in others comments whether these bulbs would have worked, and if anyones intripid enought to have a go and fit them.
For now the new LED's as mudplugger specified are certainly very good and I'm pleased. The photos of normal lights on (LED) and stop lights on (LED) are posted in my gallery.

Ordered 4 of these on Tuesday, £32.92 off my credit card. Package arrived this morning containing just 1 bulb, and an invoice for 4. Tried phoning the number on the invoice - ansa fone with message to ring mobile. Rang mobile, ansa fone.
Sent email to contact address, got prompt reply from Director saying that I should return the package to them and they will re-ship the order and refund my postage.
Great service, BUT why can't people get simple things right first time? 4 x bulbs is not difficult is it? £32 quid for 1 bulb, should have set the alarm bells ringing! RANT OVER
I am sure things will be just fine when they arrive.
