I have to say mine has also develped a rattle, the only thing I can ut it down to is running the car down to the red light and then filling up at Tescos...... I've just put half a tank of V-power in and some 2 stroke oil to see if that cures it before I go down the injector route!

Remove the plastic cover off the engine top, and check to see if there is a sound deadening pad missing from the rh injectors ( this will be lh if stood at the front of the car) They need to remove this to carry out the recall.
Mine was noisy after picking up so checked to see if this had been replaced and oh guess what? they havent put it back on.
I wonder how many have not been fitted back on ???????
Got the dealer to fit a new one and the diesal knock has gone again! 'Just because you're breathing doesn't mean you're alive'

I will do my best to upload photo , it should be easy to spot because there will be one fitted to the other side of the engine, it covers the injectors to reduce noise.
You can see it clearly on these instructions.

The thing is, mines and 09 plate and hasn't had a recall. The noise just seemed to "develop".
THere are three cars going in fro the recall this week at work though, so I will listen for the results and advise.

Alas, the noise dampening pad thingy is still there under my bonnet, so that's certainly not what's made mine sound more rattly... 2001 D2 GS (I must be mad!)

hey hey......mines IS missing. Its been about 9 months since the stealer replaced my brake servo, vacuum pump and master cylinder with the oil in servo problem. And its been noisy ever since then. I wonder what theyll say when I go in asking for a new noise deadening cover. I bet they wont take responsibility for it not being there....?
Ill let you know how I get on and if it makes all the difference in mine?? heres hoping .......

Hi,
Just found this post
Recall for brake P017 has been done yesterday on mine and noise has really changed this morning when started the engine. I got similar increased noise tonight which is comming from RHS I guess. I went to dealer but everithing is OK sir!. Have removed the engine cover to check if somethng looks wrong but found only that injector noise reducer has been pulled to front and has been left like that!
Just put it back but no difference as noise seems lower when engine is warm. Will see tomorrow morning.
Vacuum pump should be in that area but i don't know yet if there is any relation with replacement of tubing done yesterday.

We owe Twelsticks a LARGE thank you.
The service sheet is very interesting, it shows how complex/serious the job is to fitt properly too!!
My Dealer is still investigating; they are a particulary good dealer, (Chesterfield area) they have responded seriously to this problem, the car has been back for the sound pad check, it was in place. Brian, the service manager has requested it back for two days thourough investigations, a courtesy car is also arranged, I'm confident that they will get to the bottom of this Engine Rattle. I will report after 21st Feb. In a land Rover the other vehicle is the crumple zone.

Hi, to you all, fairly new to the forum, but though i can add to this thread! i have an 05 hse and noticed a distinct increase in engine noise under acceleration once i had had my engine remaped. dosent sound bad just more noticeable when under load and over 2000 rpm. if you guys have had a software update could it be due to a slightly different map?? hope this helps
