I am tired of waiting for the temp to drop to below 4, can anyone tell me the location of the ambient temperature sensor (I thought it was located behind the front grill) I am going to encourage it with a little CO2 so I can test the FBH operation.

Not been cold enough here in S Yorkshire yet - though I'm not holding out much hope - tests fine every time at the dealers, worked fine when Mr Wiggs connected his machine to it.
Stops working after about 1 normal cycle.
I have the kit now to test it using the Webasto software + makeshift cable so I might get better diagnostics as to why it's failing.
Does anyone know if I could take it to a Webasto specialist? Or will they just send me back to Landrover who will hit with a spanner, declare "it's still looks ok" and leave me grimacing 2 days later...?

What does the FBH do?
How do I know if I have one?
Do they all have sim cards? If so then where do you replace this?

No, some people have added an after-market gadget that allows them to dial up the car and start the heater. Others have added a timer.

Just tried to start mine up using the remote and it doesn't work unless you are stood right next to the D3 so I guess a new remote battery is needed. SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

| FBH fired up for the first time this season - time to check |

2 degrees outside, yeppee he's off and running
Time to check yours if your new to d3/d4 ownership, n/s wheel arch, towards the front inner side, little 1" pipe that drops down, after running for a 3-4 mins , touch very gently OR lift the bonnet, RHS as you look inside towards the front, looks like a little exhaust/silencer box.
WARNING - when touching the 1" pipe in the n/s wheel arch or similar components it will be VERY hot, so be very light with yer fingers!!!! 
note to editor, remember to take a photo of the engine bay and put an arrow where the FBH is or wait for another forum member to post photo 
pps for those new to what a FBH does, in short it gets the engine up to operating temp quicker and gives yer a nice warm cabin sooner

Remember also that the pipe/exhaust for the FBH is in the N/S wheel arch, and becomes easily blocked when playing in mud.
Coat hanger wire will clear it out.

It's in the NEARSIDE arch unless you have a LHD but even then its in the same place they just move the steering wheel and drive on the wrong side of the road

Avid readers may well have followed the Fuel Burning Heater drama earlier in the year (http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic55719.html) - we last left our intrepid Discovery 3 owners praying for a cold spell of weather - cold enough for the enigmatic FBH to make an appearance.
I bought the diagnostic kit parts...and watching the thermometer every day since the autumn began...
About 0700 today I spotted it below the requisite +5℃ - MrsG told me it was never going to work but I tried anyway...
...lo and behold, the FBH kicked in as soon as the engine was on - continued to run for a good 10 minutes, first a plume of smoke then just hot gas...it even continued whirring away after I killed the ignition.
I nearly fell over...I've no idea what has changed since last winter....of course now I'm ready for the dull disappointment that next time I start it up there'll be no FBH...
