Mines been banked for about a year but didn't check sensor at the time or clean any pipe work out,but will be keeping a close eye on it from now on . Wanted D4s non runners pm for competitive price.

yes - but probably 2 years ago.The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

My EGRs have been blanked for at least the last 40000 miles. During the blanking procedure I cleaned the sensor and manifold section that it fits into , and this is what the sensor looks like today....

No crud whatsoever, just a smearing of oil. Before the EGRs were done it was caked in carbon/oil crud, and i needed a small drill bit to clear out the hole (at about 80000 miles).Previously:

Cleaned it up and I went for a quick spin, I couldn't feel a difference, but it didn't make it worse 8)

Mine is a 76.000 mile engine with EGRs still present. Removed sensor and checked it and it was spotless

Steve would have thought that was how it should be! OK techie types hiding out there, what would a gunked up sensor do? lad U holding the biscuit for the worst!

Just did mine well and turlly caked up cleaned just done 35 miles (egrs are blanked but didnt clean this after fitting)
seams to have less of a flat spot and engine seams more livley
see how mpg goes

Mine looked like lad's sensor so wiped it with a shop towel and used EGR cleaning spray to clear the hole. I BAS blanked my EGRs last year and the intake stub-pipes were in a horrible state. Thinking back on it I really should have taken everything apart and cleaned all the black gunk out.
As a slight worry she was a bit reluctant to start afterward but all seems ok now.

Mine was also just like lad's, sensing hole completely clogged over with oily black crud. Hope this is the reason for the <20 mpg I've been getting lately . Thanks for the pointer Derek. 55 Plate, EGR's not blanked, 38K miles.

Can anyone point out with pictures where I would find this sensor.I have looked everywhere but it must be hidden behind a cover somewhere.Any help would be helpful

Remove oil filler cap, pull the engine cover off, replace oil filler cap, and you'll see where it is, just in front of the oil filter housing. Its fixed with a torx screw.

Not been touched since new as far as I know
Just took mine out, quite dirty, cleaned and refitted.
Maybe me, but seemed to start slightly easier/settled to smooth idle faster from cold.
On the road, seems slightly more responsive, have to see how the MPG fairs.
