 the warning light comes once the compressor continues to run after being sent a signal to stop (by the ecu). Often misdiagnosed as faulty ecu, sticking compressor, faulty valve (because the relay may stick intermittently). We bench tested with a knowingly faulty relay and there's nothing that will show up on diagnostics that point to the relay (other than common sense). If the compressor keeps running after the key has been removed from the ignition, imho it has to be the relay. 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

better to learn it this way that after an ecu, valves, compressor... hours with a meter...
I change mine every year now.
Funny how LR now provide a new relay when you order a new compressor from them...  2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

So a sticking relay that probs cost £20, has caused my compressor to burn out. Cost me £500 plus to sort. Now theres quality engineering for you! Why not build in a thermo cut out. Thanks for all the help and advice gents!

Could anyone tell me if it is safe to drive with a compressor failure. I get the orange warning light on bottom left corner. And when turning of says 'suspension failure normal ride height only'. Ment to be doin a hour and half drive today and dont realy want to do it in misses leon! I dont realy fit!

After ringing around today, I have found a dealer that will do the works needed for £490. So landy is booked in! Though sadly they cant do work until the 29th. But such as life saving well over £100 so can not argue with that!!

This is good advice. A few day ago I had the same error. Drove a sandy stretch and switched to Sand Mode, back on the tar turned it off, and the warning light came on. Suspension fault. I stopped switched the car off and left it to sleep. Switched back on and the error was gone.
The previous time this happened was after a desert run and the tyres were not deflated equally, when I got back on the tar, same warning light, which was understandable.
I will order a new relay just in case.

Car was fixed today by Marshells at Peterborough. New relay, new compressor, change of software, all done for £505. Alot better than the £600-£700 quote by Rockingham landrover. Happy days.

Result !!....£428 all in..... 8) ...pleased with that.It came off really easily (unlike the next one they were doing )...and the whole thing went very smoothly....

All I can say is i'm jealous! I must have rang around all the local company's who could fix it!! Scotland just have cheaper rates! It does seem to be a common problem as according to the records this will be my cars 3rd after having a new one at just 8months old!! Crack :-S!
