the biggest issue is the brightness ....once it thinks the car is a range rover it stops using the inbuilt light sensor . The screen is then quite dark
I had a seperate dimmer made which plugged into the main board on the nav screen ...cured the dimming issue
Tried this mod and works fine apart from the screen brightness!(makes the screen no good during the day) could you give a bit more detail on the dimmer you had made adrian ?
thanksLast night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where,s the f**king ceiling!!

Yep, same here - definately not bright enough during the day Staying on D3 software until a fix is known.

the dimmer was made by a forum member on here ....unfortunatly he is very busy and i dont want to pass on his details without his permission . I had asked about making some extras a while back ...but it time issue for him .
If he wants to come forward with the offer of making more im sure he will
I can tell you there is a little board with a 2 pin connector on ..this goes to the sensor ( size of an led ) that picks up the light
then there are 3 wires ....2 that connect to one of the terminal rails inside the screen and the other to a ground point on the screenG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Not had a look inside the SAT/NAV screen unit itself, but would it be easier to fit a small 12v led inside the screen unit as a back light and run the power from the dimmer switch for the dash ? or run power to the input side of the wire that was cut ? or does it not work like that ? I've also tried the different look and like having the radio and phone controls on the screen but it is too dim for daytime use (for me anyway).
Details on the required dimmer circuit or device would be greatly appreciated.

if you enable the reversing camera ...then it will work automatically when in RR mode
If the reversing camera is enabled in LR mode will it also work automatically without a gvif module? It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Very interesting psot, and I am going to try this weekend
Wiggs, no words
Only one question, I have faultmate, Is it not possible to change D3 and RRS mode using MSV-2?
If I understand right, you can change D3 to RR only cutting one of the wires, and if you want to change again betwwen those modes, yo can put a switch, right?
Yes you put a switch on the wire then select what you want let the car go to sleep and when it reboots it loads whatever software the switch is set for...
But I too find the screen dim but looking in to a way as well..

Hi, got the mod working but have a query on the phone book. I have a 2005 HSE with PTI and voice and the updated bt module. I get the phone on the the touchscreen and I get the missed calls etc with the contact showing against it but I DONT get the ability to browse the phone book - greyed out. Linked to a blackberry so may be that that is the problem. Has anyone else had this? I have a cradle so going to borrow an old Nokia and see if it displays the phone book on screen then... Would a d4 module resolve?
Brightness is a problem but I much prefer the rr functionality! Also ingested in the light sensing mod!
