I am sure this must have been discussed... but.... My instruction book says that the key in ignition warning (when drivers door is open), can be switched off by my dealer. He looked a bit surprised... Can someone help us both out....

Yes it can, as can a number of the other warnings - seatbelt chime, lights on chime. In addition, other settings such as the autolocking activation speed can also be dealer adjusted, activated or deactivated. It is all on the car configuration file. He just needs to plug in Testbook.

The autolocking should be in the menu for the owner to set, it is on mine.

Brian, the autolocking is indeed in the user settings menu, but the Testbook element can change the speed at which is activates. I should have been clearer.

Can we definitely establish that the key warning can be switched of by the dealer? The last posts on this got bogged down with auto locking speed etc, which does not bother me.
If someone can tell me where in the testbook menu the option can be found that would be great... as I have just spent time with my dealer looking for it on the testbook and not finding it.... ta

Likewise. I don't want to disagree with winger, but I too have spent considerable time on the Testbook and could not find it. Having said that as it is a Ford system basically, I would say that somewhere it could be switched off. It is so damned annoying.

You should find it in the vehicle body ECU - sits in the same place as the light and lock control settings. There should be a "Key Warning" setting, which can be enabled or disabled.

Can someone put me right on the NAV systems and the VDU (Visual Display Unit) that comes with the various specifications?
With the basic model there is no VDU - correct?
Then how do you set the thing like “key warnings’. My guess is you cannot, unless it can be done with the diagnostic equipment at the dealers.
When you have the basic NAV system then these features are available?
What does the super-duper NAV system give you over the basic one?
I don’t find any explanations to the different features on Land Rovers web site, do any of you know if this exists? Discovery 3 XS Auto, Stornaway, Active rear diff.

Settings menu is displayed on the LCD screen on the dash, this is common to all models (apart from Simons D3!)
Key warning is not one of these settings so will need to be done by dealer or buy some hidden method such as the seat belt warning one
Nav screen functionality is not related to dash Settings
On-road Nav functions are the same on both systems, not sure if off-road nav is on basic system (anybody comment?) but advanced also gives you the 4x4 info display (a cut-down version of which also appears on the LCD dash screen on all models)
Si The End

With all these valuable points another one I have is re the 'wheel direction' display on the 'S' version. Some have it and others (me) don't. Is this a Testbook setting as again I cannot find it neither can the dealer?
