Well I have just returned from BAS with map applied !
Just to re iterate what Sean has said above, drive ability is improved !
Throttle response is better resulting in a crisper pick up !
There seems to be more urgency involved in moving along ? I'm not sure if you follow what I mean and it is quite difficult to be specific, it's more pleasurable if that makes sense , the big improvement for me having a manual has been that the gear changes are more urgent and better matched to the engines rev range ?
Previously had a notchy 1st to 2nd change which seems to have been eliminated ?
In gear is where the most noticeable power increase is which is exactly where you want it, it's easier to enter moving traffic on a mtwy and pull out in front of upcoming traffic when changing lanes on the mtwy.
Does any of that make any sense ! Only dead fish go with the Flow !

With performance in mind I would to go down the route of
Silicone hoses (Preventative Maintenance)
De-cat pipe
Comfort,
Leather bound steering wheel again ? For those that missed out
FBH remote GSM one for added comfort On those cold dark winter mornings !

2 stroke oil bulk buy ?

Torches Lenser type ?

Jet boils
And other such things that are not required but are nice to have

Alrighty.
Everything is done. Now I impatiently wait for my package to arrive.
I will be posting about the results as soon as possible. Since I also have ordered the EGR kit - I'll try to do that one first and post, then apply the remap and post again.

HELP.
What to do about this one. I know from various posts that a remap is supposed to be better than that thing that is better than sliced bread. I have registered interest then changed my mind. Its a lot of dosh, so will I ever recoup the outlay for the sake of better performance? It would buy me a years warranty, pay for a service etc etc. Some one please talk me into this or put me off altogether.
Man with no D3 anymore, but cant leave the forum....how sad.

You need to look at it like this.
If you want to have the extra drivability/smoothness and an overall gain in power which improves the car for setting off and more so in mid range while maintaining safe limits of tune then do it. If you are unsure if you would ever use the gains then dont go for it as it would be money not ever used.
I would personaly forget about recouping the cost of the unit as it will never be recouped, you need to look at it like you are possibily spending that amount of money on your car because you are keeping it for a long time and the cost will be worth the gain in drivability to youpersonaly over the time you have the car.
If you are really unsure at this time hang on and dont buy it, and only do so if you are of the mind set that its spare money spent on improving what car you have now that you are keeping it for some time so the expence is spent on making it better for you for the time you own it.
Hope that makes sence

I have had my D3 nearly 3 years without touching it, save for tyres service etc.
I had a wobble a couple of weeks ago where I very nearly flogged mine.
I will be honest with you to get a comparative vehicle the off set in funds scared the shoot out of me. I'm sure you are aware of this but it's something you forget sometimes as an owner.
Any way, the decision was made to save and the rest they say is history !
It might be an idea if you could meet some one local who has had the re-map and drive it,
It is a lot of money but I'm not sure I could go back and drive mine standard now 
It's never going to be a track car, pod racer, or hot hatch but the transformation in drive ability is unbelievable,
I think if you have the opportunity to buy and are keeping the vehicle then go for it......
If you are not keeping it then don't do it ?
Or wait out and see if you can test drive some ones.
I think flack summed it up for me when he posted that it makes the car what it should have been !
Which kind of passed me by when I read it, now I've driven mine with map applied I know exactly what he meant ! Only dead fish go with the Flow !

Chalky, your post mirrors my position. There is a wobble over continued owneship following some mechanical issues, and SWMBO seriously suggesting that the car is not going to be a good long term idea. The quality of the remap is not an issue, there is not one negative post from anyone who has invested.
Now its time for another brew accompaniedby a Tunnocks caramel wafer. Man with no D3 anymore, but cant leave the forum....how sad.

Fantastic replies and good advice - I have been watching these re-maps closely!!
But until I get a new laptop and run a Windows (spit at them) based operating system I will have to pull out.
I will have to wait until I upgrade this Mac to a new new one......

Indeed as Geoff suggests the re map covers all D3's
It's just that some cannot have the EGR's blanked !
I.e. Euro 4 2007 MY onwards !
I don't think it's a case of getting Pete to commit time to blanking EGR's on the later MY, I'm sure he would if he thought this was time / money well spent,
You can blank them, the EML light will stay on as it's supposed to do, some I think have removed the lamp to stop it showing a fault, I think it's a reverse engineering approach, rectifying a part whilst in the process throwing up a fault ?
I've kept my eye on this for the last couple of years
Some have had varying degrees of success ? I've followed threads on the RRS forum and on here from the UK
And SA.
I had an EGR replaced just last week so I'm as keen as any to to find a cure but it's not happened yet ! Only dead fish go with the Flow !
