Wing Mirror, replacing or repairing |
|
Through my own carelessness while reversing, not helped by a dark night and an unfortunate lamp-post, I managed to smash the right hand wing mirror on my 2008 model Disco HSE. The outer case is broken, plus the mirror glass and the black plastic backing for the glass (which I think may come with the glass). The electric folding still works, as do the up/down and sideways movements, though the latter of course are no longer connected to the mirror glass.
Questions: (1) are the outer case and plastic mirror backing sold separately or is it a matter of replacing the whole lot? (2) is it a reasonably easy DIY job?
Many thanks in advance,
Stephen

you will need a complete mirror and a new glass.
the HSE mirrors are more expensive as you have the memory seat/mirrors as well.
last tim i smashed my outer casing it cost £130 for the unit and about £30 for the glass !! - may as well buy second hand
now, if you had smashed the passenger side.... I have the remains of mine that I took to peices and kept for spares.. Duncan

DiscoDunc, Many thanks for your reply. I'll try for second-hand and if that fails apply for a second mortgage!
Thanks again,
Stephen
