I can't imagine overlooking something like this for three years, it's not like your dry cleaning is it ? But I don't know how much discount was involved. I'd probably offer a refund of the actual amount paid or apply it to offset the current cost of latest unit.

But it's not my business and I'm not in possession of all the facts....

I don't for one minute believe a brand new unit that was not faulty and had been tested was chopped up, I think it could have just been re programmed and sold on Laughing So should be no problem sending the chap a new one, even if it was chopped up are we saying the parts are only worth 40 Euros Wink

I had a similar story from a few years back when I ran a workshop.

A guy came in for some used wheels we were selling for a customer and he fitted them there and then, he then left the old steel rims with us for a "few" days until he was passing with space for them.

A year later we got rid of them and he turned up the next day demanding his wheels. He then demanded £600 to replace them!

We agreed we had only been charging him £50 a month storage!

So he went away Thumbs Up

I have no doubt he is good hence being open and asking for views, seems he is getting them Laughing

I am sure if anyone on here 'really' wanted to track down a forum member for a geuine purpose they could find them, either by posting "where is he" or a note to Martin, so if that was done then he has done his best, if not why not? Thumbs Up

I would have thought that as long as you are satisfied you exhausted all avenues to contact this guy then you're within you're right to dispose of the equipment, or charge storage if you still had it. It might have been more prudent to have sent a registered letter in the outset to say it was ready, but that's by the by now.

It's not impossible to think he might have been ill?, and only just back. Sorry for making excuses, just seems odd on you're customers behalf, and I'd probably have done the same with throwing it away.
