You HAVE to take longer trips... if not for the fuel consumption then for your own pleasure  It really is a fun vehicle to drive on the twisty bits... just stay in 4th and 3rd for the sharper bends. Holds on to the road very well considering.
My wife has gone out in mine on her own for the first time since I had it Xmas eve... mmm little worrying eh ?

To be perfectly honest i am very peed of at the fuel consumption as i am only getting 19.5 mpg 
ok so my auto tdv6 has only done 2000 miles but i think 19.5 mpg is very poor considering i drive very carefully and always have the air con on ecconomy mode. the figures that land rover quote are better than this.
my local dealer said that it will cost around £1700.00 per year to run a tdv6 on average doing 12000 miles per year.which equates to around 31mpg what a load off b******s i have put nearly £500 worth in allready in 2000 miles

Wow Shaun, you dug this thread out from 11 months ago ! Even bigger wow is your current fuel consumption. 
After a lot of discussion on TDv6 Auto's fuel consumption on this board I haven't seen anyone talk about less than 20mpg. The lowest we ever did was 22. something and now I am pleased to say that after 22,000 miles she is getting 25. something and we never "try" to use less fuel. Premium diesel definiely seems to improve fuel consumption.
Oh and by the way she is definiely getting quicker as well - think I'll start another thread on that subject ...... Disco 4 TDV6HSE

I agree, sub 20mpg is only possible if I go off-road. I average 25.1. This week I have dropped to 23 because I have been commuting to Leeds and back to Stockport everyday in the M62 traffic.

well cheers guys you just made me feel a whole lot worse 
just to top it off i had the turbochip fitted to try to improve economy and this has not helped either, but i do have loads more power and would definatly recommend it, but i am fed up of pulling up at all the fuel stations i seem to spend more time driving too and from the petrol station than anything else

Average 29 to 31 most trips up and down the roads between Soho and Shropshire.
27 to 28 around Shropshire on b roads and up and down hills.
more than happy with this

My auto has now done 1000 miles and the average is 25.5 mostly trips of about 9 miles on 50-60 mph roads and some town driving.
First couple of miles in the morning is certainly the killer but I am happy with 25 not much worse than my td4 was doing I should of thought.
I think having the trip computer just makes you stress about it more

i have turned the trip ave fuel readings off and just have the outside temp on display now otherwise i would go mad

I was getting the same economy as you in my 05 spec but I now have a 06 spec and have seen a big jump in fuel economy I dont know why.

The colour... Arctic Frost obviously smoother than the last one was... or maybe new engine mapping ?
Mine looses power between 1st and 2nd most times and is hard to pull away. One O had on loan was far smoother from stand still.
Should ask em to look at it at 30K service I guess.
