Hi,
For the last couple of days while I am driving along (no particular speed or driving style) my 2004 manual D3 TDV6 SE will alert me to a system fault, the first thing it shows is:
HDC FAULT SYSTEM NOT AVAILABLE followed shortly by: SPECIAL PROGRAMMES NOT AVAILABLE
and then: SUSPENSION LOWERED,
Also ABS light on.
The next day all was OK, so off to the caravan holiday (250 m round trip). No probs going there but on the return journey I noticed at stops the engine pulsing and noticed my manual gear box indicator showing the letter E. I was close to home so stopped and started the vehicle a few times and waited as I googled the issue restarted some 10mins later and it no longer appeared.
But at home the car showed all the faults highlighted in capitols, HDC fault etc the next morning and to date has not disappeared.
Bake fault light showing too Ive read of D3 issues so bought a new battery as it was showing low, no change, alternator Im told should be approx 12.7v charging , Im getting 12.5/4,............. new belt fitted recently.
So last week the car has had new front brake pads n discs fitted same for the back inc new sensors fitted (over kill yes but done now) and hey presto that fault is now remedied for the ABS issues?
Swapped out the brake pedal switch for newy, no change to original fault. Checked the voltage at the red wire to earth today and my reading is 11.68 volts what should this read Please...........having read somewhere that this could be an issue so my guess is 12.544 v min???
Checked the rear bulbs all look good but some have dark areas in the glass so waiting on spares to arrive..........................
Fuses checked out OK
Looked at the TCM, looked good but reading on its open to moisture internally so ordered a spare 2nd hand (£22) but that showed additional parking brake sensor warning lamp & gear indicator showed the letter E, swapped back all good/ but original fault still present so have counted that part out.
Still looking to at posts and there may be issues with
• Steering angle sensor to be checked and recalibrated if required.
• Height sensor faulty / voltage check
• Suspension pump failure.
Wow, so not impressed so far..any help would be appreciated.
Cheers LD£ fans
Ive already checked the alternater and its outbut is 14.7v
when i checked the brake switch red wire to earth with no power I was getting 11.68v wilst running i get 14.6 oevr a short time so no issues there i think bulbs arrive tommorrow
any ideas guys LD£ fans

If you hope for a clever retort, you need to, at least spell lose correctly to retain credibility.
Best advice, put out a shout for a forum member who lives close to you, to correctly read the codes as a diagnosis is hard to give without this having been properly completed.Mods:

The thing with U codes is they can generally be ignored because many are cascade faults from the main cause.
I'd be somewhat confused though because you haven't found any main faults which would be the big clue to getting an accurate diagnosis so I suspect you've either missed them or your diagnostic tool can't see them.
Clear everything and see what comes back but I'd suspect your diagnostic tool as possibly not up to the job. Let's hope Im wrong.Mods:

The ting is I see no faults on this icarsoft i930 its specific for just jags and landrover.
features
reads DTCs
clear DTCs
read live data stream
single brand of all models (obd11-16dlc)
FULL SYSYTEM DIAGNOSIS
WHEN i USE THE SELF DIAGNOSIS i GET NO dtcS SHOWING
When I enter every section to diagnose I get those that I wrote earlier,
Ive had someone look at the codes and they agree with you prognosis, but they too have seen and tested and retested using this i930 and found no faults codes unless they individually enter each section on the 930 under OBD11 diagnosis page, which includes
read codes
erase codes
i/m readiness
read data stream
freeze frame
o2 sensor test
onboard monitoring
evap system test
vehicle info on vin no.
After the initial test I was perplexed to not find any thing that I retested and read the book to confirm.
Given the nature of these results, are you implying I need a fault code which is why I have these faults or as there is no fault code showing its perplexed you too.
Im sure the kit is reading correctly as the results as you say are a cascade, Im a little concerned as I cant find any issues relating to this on the forum or any other.
Cheers for the chat
Thx

There's is little doubt on the forum that the IID tool is the chosen weapon for accurately diagnosing all things Discovery 3 + 4 related. There are others of course but the IID tool has proven itself time and time again amongst the forum residents.
Your tool does seem comprehensive and I think others do use the iCarsoft but your results appear to be lacking a number of major errors, especially with all those U codes cropping up. There simply has to be something at the back of that lot. In my opinion, and as I've stated, you need access to an IID tool just to get a fuller code reading.
Start a new post and request if somebody local to you can help. A local forum members IID tool will read the codes on your car no problem, give you a full and hopefully better understanding of what's wrong and point you towards what might, or might not, be lacking with your iCarsoft.
Good luck with it. Mods:

HI Guys round 2,
updated the tool online and redid the obd check,
p1621 = immobilise codes dont match
p0404 = exhaust gas re circulation control circuit range performance
p0140 = same as above with B range
p0405 = same as above with sensor circuit low
p1935 = brake switch sensor signal !!!! ( I have replaced with a new brake pedal switch under the dash or is this another fault ie power red wire issue)
u0102 = lost coms with transfer case control module
u0138 = control module comms bus off
Then i took a look at the u0102 fault and ran a test on that module and got.
p0641 = sensor ref voltage A circuit / open
p0902 = clutch actuator circuit low
p0916 = gear shift position circuit low
p1811 = four wheel drive low ratio short open to ground
p1807 = four wheel drive high ration short open to ground
u0137 lost comms to all terrain
So Im hoping that as the high low light is flashing and I cannot use to raise the LD3 and related illumination i have found the correct DTC's for the problem.
Now the next question, where can I expect to find these open circuits and other the code refering to gas recurculation may be the throttle pulsing after a long run.
Any ideas guys, fingers crossed I got it right this time,
Cheers LD fans
Well guys,
The problem was down to a dodgy transfer box motor, replaced and all's good. It eventually failed completely and fortunately I was at home when it failed.
Surprising no one locally would touch it, or very expensive so MPB4X4 collected it and fixed the issues.
Thanks for All the advice, my learning curve has levelled off again.
Cheers
Dave
