Did yours cause the problem because of water? I'm trying to find out what I've got wet that would cause so many immediate problems... LR3 TDV6 diesel, grey, Auto, 2005, S spec

You can disconnect the capacitor and then replace the fuse unit you replace it not sure which fuse it but check them all in engine bay if one blown disconnect the capacitor and replace fuse only temp downside it the radio might be a bit fuzzy unit the capacitor is replaced. That's if it is that has Coursed this. Good luck

Thanks jamieroxy! Don't suppose you'd point me in the direction of how to spot this capacitor?:

It's on the right of the gearbox next to the cable a black box size of match box. But see if the fuse is blow first as this may not be your problem. Check all the fuses incase something else shorted with the water

ecu behind the battery is the usual problem when cleaning engine bay. Can get fried which is exe, Lucky easy fix. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Ok car now up on ramp at garage. Here are my error codes guys:
Engine management
P0107 manifold absolute pressure/barometric sensor low input
Automatic transmission
U2023 Engine torque information
U0416 invalid data received from vehicle dynamics control module
All terrain control module
U0402 invalid data recieved from transmission control module
U0416 invalid data recieved from vehicle dynamics control module
U0421 invalid data from ride level control module
Body control module
B1B02 low frequency coil
B1C57 passive start ignition relay control coil circuit
Steering column module
B1B02 low frequency coil
B1C57 passive start ignition relay coil circuit
Other things to note:
Mechanic has removed the control module behind battery and noticed there was some corrosion on connectors.
Mechanic has pointed out the suppressor thing by the gear lever under the car is corroded and slightly swollen possibly due to age / water ingress.
H E L P appreciated guys! Do you think I should buy the controller and the suppressor? LR3 TDV6 diesel, grey, Auto, 2005, S spec

Forget the capacitor thingy.
The gearbox/transfer case ECU is behind the battery. Because it is shielded from below bit not from above when you hose your engine (don't do it again if you don't want a spanking) water gets into this ECU connector and causes the issue.
I did it to mine and had gearbox F and transfer case issues for a week until the water dried out. Even got stuck in low range for a while but the car still drove.
This ECU is directly behind the battery - take the plug off and let the water dry out - hopefully none went into the ECU. If that does not fix it - take out the ECU and let it dry - hopefully nothing has shorted.
You may need to clear codes a few times - if there are still problems (unlikely) then you need to look further.
When I did the same I didn't know what to do and just left it - as said had issues for a week until it dried out but it came good.

Thanks all, I've bought the geniune control module for behind the battery, £175+VAT from MATFORD LR. Mechanic putting it in now, will see how much programming is required this afternoon. Fingers crossed.
LR did say this is an upgraded part over the old 2005 version. LR3 TDV6 diesel, grey, Auto, 2005, S spec

Suffice to say the engine/gearbox gets more than a little wet when deep wading etc its the battery area and ECU plugs behind that you should keep dry at all costs. Careful cleaning and washing off with a well directed low pressure hosepipe with fine spray is fine, do it all the time.
