No worries mate, while you're in there it's daft not to change the idlers even at £45 a go its prentative maintenance.
As for water pump bolts character I see a few people have had this issue but didn't DM say he's never seen any break on all the belts he's done?

yer know what this forum is all about....if yer suffer failure its posted with the hope it doesn't happen to someone else or to see if anyone else had the same issue ie the MY07 crank....from having experienced the failure, worth paying for the parts coz it has to be removed anyway and only around £50 last time I looked, no labour time

I agree with DM I have done dozens of belts now and never seen a water pump fail, what I have found is water pump bolts missing and loose though. I have also now changed 4 Oil pump casings as a caution on the owners request.

Do you think it would be prudent to remove water pump for inspection, then if OK refit with NEW bolts.
I have already decided that, when the time comes, I will fit a new oil pump casing on my 2009 D3, as well as idlers etc...

Stratstones Solihull did mine for £599 a couple of months ago. .....but beware the 'upservice ' phone call for stuff that invariably doesn't need doing!

No. All depends how particular you want to be. Waste of time IMHO, but the choice is yours
And, the 09MY's SHOULD have the latest oil pump casing. Double check before you shell out unnecessary money My D3 Build Thread

Cheers for your input DM always valued, where do you get your parts from? I tend to use genuine stuff but the prices are getting ridiculous now, the parts genuine come to £230 retail and the cheapest oem kit i can find with idlers is £200 so not much point changing over £30
