Quick update...
Stratstones Solihull doing the 105K service today, I asked them to look at the play in the front steering rack and the EGR valve issue I have and they came back with the following:-
1. Play in steering rack coming from steering rack ends not rack itself - £581 to replace both sides
2. EGR valve on drivers side failed, recommend replace both at a cost of £980
Needless to say I to told them I'd get both done locally...got to love em...

I know...the last time I looked the rack ends were about £50 each side for the bits and half an hour to swap tops. So thats more than £400 per hour in labour charges in reality...

Quick Update on Stratstone Solihull as 105K service completed this week...
They were good for their quote of £716 (worked out £396 parts and £320 labour).
Part numbers and prices on invoice for parts look like original LR, aux belt has LR green oval so fairly confident they are using kosher bits.
They replaced 2 idlers 'at customer request' at an additional cost of £41.31 each with no extra labour.
Gave them a written list of things to check for me including oil pump housing idler mount, written report back on all but strangely silent on OP idler mount though, can't blame them really but the question has been asked.
So all in all apart from the exorbitant quotes for recommended steering rack ends and EGR valve work they did what they said they would and were efficient and friendly.
Could have offered a better courtesy car though, boring Ford focus...chance to tempt me with a D4 lost

Good thing this post came up again. I went into my local LR dealer the other day just to pop the question. Sit down chaps, as this guy gave me a quote for the 105k service : 2700 € (2300£)
I did smile, remaining very polite and stepped out, telling him that it was not due for another 12k or so, but I must admit that my first thoughts went to SWIMBO, than to my bank manager, which is about the same come to think of it.
Therefore, I have 2 options :
1) take a weekend trip to the UK in Kent, and I would therefore need some charitable soil to recommend a good place to leave the car on the Friday before collecting it to finish off the weekend.
2) I have a professional trip planned to Birmingham in September, and in which case I'd drive up and use the week to leave it in a good place before driving back.
In both cases, the service would be early, but in view of the cost difference, I'll step out of the ring having won.
I have a slight preference for option 1, as it has the enormous advantage to have SWIMBO on the trip with me, as well as the kids, so the money would be well spent.
Any recommendations from anyone in southern east ?
Thanks
Rich
My third option is o do it myself, but I'm not sure I' up to standard... Help !

I just had mine done about 2 weeks ago, my local indi rick mason did it, full service, full check over as i had just purchased the car and the cam belt, tensioners idlers etc and the rear high pressure belt, all in was 700 quid. Not bad i thought, he used a dayco belt.

I've a question - what's more important for the cambelt work?
I'm bang on 84 months but only at 84'000 miles. I'm aiming to do it in December in the UK. I assume I'm not suddenly running a risk with the car in these 5 months? My brain tells me no....but I will go over my service interval by about 75 days too. The car doesn't do big miles anymore though.
