Have used 2 stroke in all my other diesels but not in the disco yet, have not had it long but will prob use it.
always use low ash mineral oil like comma, it burns cleaner than diesel so cant block anything, burns hotter than diesel so you get a better burn and lubricates to stop the bio fuel % that attracts and holds water that really cant be that good for pumps etc. I would say to mix in bottle with a little diesel to dilute before adding as 2 stroke is quite thick and can take time to disperse in tank running the risk of blocking filters on vehicles that are fussy on filters, this is just my experience with using it in the past.

I really didn't know about the benefits of 2 stroke until I joined this forum. Thanks

I have been using 2 stroke oil in my 2006 for the last 6 years or so.
I tend to find that I get fewer MPG if I don't add it
Not much but enough to keep using it.

Car has just gone over 125k and is running fine (other than torque converter rattling at certain loads - regulated to closed according to the IID)
Just got 30.8 on a run from near Saintes to Pau in France at average of 43mph as well as 29.0 @ 55 over the last 400 miles over to Nimes and back a bit.

This is on new Michelin cross climates, with 2 up and camping gear.
(Remap, EGRs Blanked,Silicon I/C hose) from BAS, (Torque Convertor, Compressor, FL Wishbones, Alternator) by WD, Belts by Newbury4x4, Megaflush+extra cooler by GRGB, Diff+Transfer oils, ARB Bushes, Fuel filter, Fixed Towbar, Remote FBH.

Going to give this a test on my next fill up.

Is there a particular brand of oil/place to get it that people are using nowadays?

Here..have used this for a while now in D4 with DPF:

Bear in mind that it's added for lube, not to improve economy..so don't expect miracles in mpg.

Hi there,

Having read this topic with some interest, the one question that seems to remain ( and I appreciate its likely to be disputable) but what is the common dilution rate?

One post suggest 40ml for 40l of diesel or another ratio?

Thanks

1 in 200 was usually recommended. (250ml to 50L)

Interesting read

https://www.fuelexpert.co.za/2-stroke-oil-...-study.php

Zinc problem in 2 stroke oil could be avoided by using non zinc oil:

JASO FC - semi synthetic, which does not dillute as well as FB. Contains zinc.

JASO FB - without zinc apparently.

There is new JASO FD.
