They've just changed to the single turbo diesel engine that went in the FFRR a couple of years back. Shame they don't also offer the twin turbo one with 315PS or whatever it is. Moreover, the petrol engine is the lower performance V6 and there is a one with another 40PS they could have used.

I thought that the TD6 used in the FFRR was a straight 6, rather than a V6?

This article suggests inline six cylinder petrol and diesel ingenium engines as early as late this year:

Hmmmm, whilst I absolutely detest the X6 and its Merc equivalent, this Velar thing looks quite interesting.

What are the differences, if any, between the V6 diesel in the FFRR and the last of the D4's?

The D5 V6 3.0 diesel has twin intercoolers, but only one turbo.

Edit:
Info on D5 V6

Td6 258HP
All-New Discovery features Land Rover’s latest generation 3.0 litre Turbocharged Diesel engine. Its high-efficiency design utilises a single turbocharger and ceramic ball bearing technology to reduce friction for smooth, more immediate delivery of power at all engine speeds.
The engine uses an eight-nozzle low-flow injector designed for more precise injection and improved fuel atomisation. Delivering substantial maximum torque of 600Nm, the Td6 is capable of refined and smooth responsive performance.
The intake system with twin intercoolers ensures charge cooling. The engine also features the latest tandem solenoid intelligent Stop/Start system to reduce fuel consumption.

There has been a brief discussion about this over on RRSport. It wasn't looked upon favourably. An F-Pace in a RR suit seems to be just a way of charging more for a slightly larger Evoque...

That's what the new Velar or RRS Coupé was originally based on, way back when the Evoque was launched there was talk of an Evoque XL.

Indeed so. I think some of us were hoping it would be a more tightly packaged, more focused, RRS rather than a larger Evoque, however.

Was told by a trusted LR sales guy I've known for years
There is another LR model to be added to the RR brand that is positioned below the RRS above the Evoque....
This year mid 2017.....
Not a LR badge engineered version of an F-Pace

Yes, L560. That's what we're talking about. Based on F-Pace. Steel springs, Ingenium engine in 3.0 straight six guise.

I've not driven an F Pace but a few drives in a Disco Sport reminds me how brilliant the air suspension in the Disco is at giving an easy ride. I see that Audi are going to offer air springs in the new Q5 which makes you wonder if JLR will on the 'cheaper' models in time.

The engine developments are really interesting. In the auto Disco Sport the 180PS diesel engine never seems to get anywhere near quoted 0-60 times in road tests so dropping the 240PS engine in that should help but, for me, the real interest is the new six cylinder engines both petrol and diesel. With my Disco just coming up to it's first MOT I will wait to see what these new engines are like before deciding on a new Disco.
