I understand the point as the price delta reduces, however, up here a Disco is both popular and seems to avoid trouble whereas a Range Rover is viewed differently.2014MY Discovery

Dont you think the Sport looks dated compared to the slicker lines of the D5 In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

They've just changed to the single turbo diesel engine that went in the FFRR a couple of years back. Shame they don't also offer the twin turbo one with 315PS or whatever it is. Moreover, the petrol engine is the lower performance V6 and there is a one with another 40PS they could have used.
Can I return to the subject of the D5 3.0lt TD6 engine. I initially thought that it was a 'reworked' version of the SDV6 which is used in the D4. However, as it now appears to be a completley different engine all together, does anyone know if there have ever been crankshaft issues with this engine, or do the crankshaft issues only affect the SDV6 ?

I bought my wife the Disco Sport when it first came out with the 2.2D engine. I wasn't then happy when a few months later the 2.0TD4 came out and put the value of our car in the mud. This being a surprise to us despite the LR dealer saying it was way off.....
I've ordered the new Disco HSE Lux, so with extras that the thick end of £70k and my concern is that if there is an ingenium engine 3.0d around the corner tail end of 2017, then I'm best putting my May delivery date back / cancelling order and waiting for the new engine to avoid a repeat of the DS.
Does anyone have any thoughts or inside knowledge ? !
Thanks CS

My thought, seeing as you have asked for it, the DS will release with the V6 BUT just before new owners take delivery they will already begin to hear rumblings of this new Ingenium unit. within 3 months of launch say May / June time when new orders are placed for a Nov / Dec delivery the new engine unit will be fitted to these. If i were you and i too bought the DS at launch with the 2.2 i would definitely wait.
Minor changes you can live with, trim, colour change, even spec changes but when they do something like this immediately after launch it makes me wonder why i even bother. I'm toying with the idea of of a new Q8 or a new VW Toureg, both these on the new BIGGER platform and not out yet.Only dead fish go with the Flow !
