I'm waiting for the new engines but my Disco is just coming up to 3 years old.
The diesel ingenium was well known when the DS was launched with the old 2.2 engine. The trick is not to ask a salesman as they have no incentive to tell the truth and, largely, they know less than half an hour on the internet will tell you.
It strikes me that the ingenium 6 cylinder engines are further away than what happened with the DS but I have no substance to this thought other than adding together a few things. For example the F Type has just been facelifted and it's still the old engines.
It strikes me that the V6 diesel sits all wrong alongside the 4 cylinder in the D5 in terms of performance so the new 6 cylinder diesel is likely to have more power. Overall I am working to 2019MY in my mind - ie autumn 2018 - for the new engines but it's a guess. 2014MY Discovery

Me too. There was an article that also mentioned that the petrol and diesel engines will each have three power outputs. 2014MY Discovery

Heard it all with the DS, don't buy from launch, wait for the new engine, but I much prefered the older more powerful 2.2. I tried the ingenium in the Evoque and I can't see what all the fuss is about, it ain't that quiet and gets nowhere near the claimed MPG figures.
I'll stick with the old tried and tested 3.0, by the time I'm ready to change it will be an I-Pace so I won't need to worry abount engine choice 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

J77 I fully agree on the 2.2 vs Ingenium 2.0 in real world terms the difference was marginal when I drove both. One factor may have been Eu6 vs Eu5 that could have impacted the residuals, which won't be the same issue with the bigger engines.
I would say some life in the current V6 as it appears to be included in the hybrid offering that is already up in the configurator for the RRS and RR. I cannot see them developing that if their own 6 cylinder engine was imminent, but that of course is just a guess. It shows as being available from Q2 2017, so I would expect they would quietly add into the D5 at some point soon depending on demand/availability/margin considerations.
I am actually quite happy to have the current proven engine, while I am sure we will be beta testing all sorts of other issues with the early cars. Fully understand those that want to wait, as I am sure the higher power engine will also find its way in shortly also.

neilk, If that's right then that will be just right for me to purchase.
As for the FFRR & RRS, i think that might happen with the new model. Only dead fish go with the Flow !
