Sorry about the pics - I can't see how to add more than one at a time

The caravan copnnection has 2 rows of 7 pins - I'm only using the first row (smaller pins) connected into an adaptor from Supercheap that works the stop tail blinkers etc coonected to the black Disco plug

Hi Preacher, time to get dirty.
First you need to see if you can run some 6B&S twin sheathed cable along side the trailer’s wiring loom.
If you can, much of the hard work is done, if not you will need workout where you can run the cable so that it is protected.
Take your time and run the cable from the front of the draw bar, making sure you leave at least 0.5m of cable at the front of the trailer.
You need to run the cable into the boot, next to the batteries and then we can go from there.
Don’t look at the job ahead of you as an electrical installation. Most “electrical†installations are more like a plumbing job, so look at it that way.
Preacher, this will probably be a long job but just take your time and if you get stuck anywhere along the fitting, take pictures of the area of concern and we can help you solve the problem.
One suggestion to consider, is to get either some automotive split tube or an even more protective finish is electrical ducting.
The split tube is the easiest to work with.2008 TDV8 RR Lux + 2009 D4 2.7

Just to say thanks to Drivesafe as I bought his SC-80lr controller and parts to convert the existing rear socket to aux battery powered.
very comprehensive CD supplied and all fitted without any real issues in under 2 hours.
many thanksregards

OK now this might sound like a silly question to those in the know,
If I install the Traxide kit, will the auxillary socket that i install with it in the back stay "on" even when the car is switched off? In other words will my fridge keep running as long as it's plugged in?
Als anyone know if the Traxide folk are around over the break? I go over to Straddie on the 17th and keen to get my fridge sorted before I go!

Hi Dan, and yes your new plug would be permanently powered and the kit is set up with the option to also rewire the existing Land Rover plug so it becomes a permanently powered socket, and both sockets are then powered from the auxiliary battery.
And yes I am working over the Christmas - New Year break.
Cheers Tim.2008 TDV8 RR Lux + 2009 D4 2.7

Traxide kit and my Optima Yellow Top arrived today - that's my weekend accounted for!
Thanks for the kit Tim. I found the battery guy in the ACT, but there were potentially going to be some holdups there timing wise (due to suppliers being closed etc) so I got one for an OK price from Aviation Radios at Archerfield.
Cheers

Good
glad to hear you're around over the Christmas break!
I'm ready to move on my system - as follows
2 yellow top and standard LR crancking battery under bonnett plus 2 deep cycle in the caravan.
If possible requiire;
all to be charged at the one time by a charger set up permanently in the caravan - from geni while away
all to be able to be used for extended caravan stays
all to be able to be used for winch if required
a couple of extra 12V points in the back
and also would like to be able to link them together if crank battery is flat - although I've heard your system can't do that.
let me know what is available - thanks
dj
and if possible a system that self installs would be great

I just finished installing my Traxide and Optima set up. To anyone out there thinking they can't do it because they're hopeless with working on their own cars, then let me be a lesson in showing you that anything is possible!
Thanks Tim - you really helped me impress the misses too - she came out when I had plastic panels all over the driveway, door seals hanging out all over the place, wires jutting out from both ends (the car that is.... ), and then when she returned all she had was 2 neat little 12v sockets in the back where previously there were none!
Even I was shocked when the multi-metre gave me a reading that matched the battery!2012 MY13 SDV6 SE D4 Ipanema Sand with Almond leather

I have more pictures in my gallery if anyone is interested.
mounted the 2 aux outlets side by side, and left the original where it is, and wired to ignition - I'm not sure why, but I figured it was easier to convert it later if i need a 3rd of the aux battery.

what a fantastic result - all of the above plus being able to link them all together if needed.
All installed in about a day - including 2 new 12V sockets also rewired the existing Land Rover plug so it becomes a permanently powered socket, and wired the 2 fridges directly to the block supplied.
This NEW 160 amp jobby is great - albeit a little confusing at times installing it with the 80 amp directions - a couple of phone calls and we were finished with no hassles.
Just one question - the small green light and switch you supplied - what's it for and which way should it be switched for normal driving.
Thanks Tim
