My Narrow Track (potentially up for sale)
Sorry to bore with another Sankey build but tough cos he it goes
Last Wednesday I went and collected my narrow track Sankey for a complete overhaul. It proved not to be as straight forward as I had thought it would be as the narrow track was not narrow enough

Anyway we got it home safely
Today I started to actually assess what I had and what to do first. The tub is rotten and this was proven when I strapped it down to bring it home and I could put the securing strap through the body work

Then I set about assessing what the underside was actually like. The chassis itself is in very good condition just coated with a very thick tar like paint. But as you can see from the pic the original NATO green is there

I will be taking the chassis to a welder friend to be extended later on next week. Unfortunately Ray is too far away to make it viable.
Another job today I thought I would do is take
Off the sankey wheels and fit my other wider defender wheels. Well I knew I would need spacers so I wanted to see what size I would need. However I could not get the damn Sankey wheel off!!!
So can anyone give me tips for getting it off? I took all the wheel nuts off and I think the hub carrier is just welded to the rim where it has not been removed for years!! Also does anyone know what size spacers I should be fitting with 16" x 7" defender rims? Do I need 30mm or 60mm spacers?
And does anyone have two they would like to sell?
Well hopefully I will get the wheels off this week and get all the drop down support legs off and serviced. Also on next weeks list is to get the seized handbrake off and apart and rebuilt if anyone has tips/ instructions on how to get that apart

Ye Dunc I will be extending it and possibly some other thing up front but not sure yet so not going to say yet
Hopefully will get to chat to my welder this week and see what we can do

Ray are there any big issues to extending a narrow track? 30mm will be fine once you've cut off the lifting hubs. This is on my wide track:
