It looks like a SsanYong Musso
A bit like a two humped camel instead of a thoroughbred stallion
Wrong wrong wrong
I know some wanted to see if sexed up or modernised as the existing D3/4 shape was tired (which to me is ) but it's all about the function of the vehicle in this particular model...
It's not for haidressers, dolly birds, or Victoria Beckham....
It's a working practical multi purpose vehicle.....so the rectangular shape of the back end doesn't need & hasn't got to taper down.
If it is to be like that......then the theme of the current disco eloquently described in the original vehicles publicity about its multi purpose capability has been abandonedBREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics

Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

BLFarrar - Absolutely!
As you can tell, I'm feeling really hacked off and let down by the abandonment of the core values that brought me to LR in the first place This is a designer handbag of a car! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Nope, this is completely different - the Disco has never previously abandoned the principle of form following function. It's as if Ford had built the next Transit as a two seater roadster! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

It looks a lot like the Ford Explorer, which to be fair is a very nice vehicle, we've had a few as rentals in the US over the years. But it's a huge departure from the Discovery shape we've known & loved for many, many years.
I guess we'll just have to wait until we them for real in the showrooms. Perhaps we will have to wait for the new Defender to have a true replacement for a working / utility vehicle that the Disco has been.
I fully agree with those that have said up thread that LR are abandoning the core values of the brand, which like many on here, is what brought me to the brand in the first place. We here in "zebadeeland" have had Land Rovers since 1993 & me personally have had 5 Discovery's & 2 RRS's over the years. I feel that my current Disco, which will be due for change in the not to distant future, may well be my last LR for the foreseeable future.

I'm getting used to it, and I think seeing it in a full range of colours and specs will make a difference. To me the curved rear makes no difference to my lifestyle, never have it full, just prefer the squared off look, so long as it seats 7 adults and the seats fold flat then it will do me. The D5 will probably suit most owners, after all most D4s spend their life carrying the kids to the school.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

I personally like it... And for all of you that prefer the practicality of the squared off D3/4, thats the market cross over the new Defender will be aimed at imho
As stated above, if its built on a FF platform then its going to be fantastic A to drive & B off road. All of the cost savings during built like removing the EAS & making it optional, loosing the split rear tailgate etc etc etc have to happen otherwise who will spend the extra on a RRS or RRV? 15.5MY XS in Corris Grey with Black & Almond leather

The D5 will undoubtedly be a very fine large SUV.
However the Discoverys that came before are all a bit more than just an SUV.
People keep saying that the new Defender is going to appeal to those who use their Discoverys for more practical purposes, but it's not on the market, it's not even due soon.
LR are leaving a huge gap between the end of classic Defender production (and L319 Disco) and the Defender replacement.
As an aside, the end of the D4 will be the end of Land Rovers on ladder chassis 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
