I think the IBF design has merit. Obviously weight is an issue, but perhaps it could be made lighter, and there are significant advantages to a bit of extra weight.

However you look at it, it's funny to read the spin from LR back when the D3 was launched and now. One minute the IBF is completely revolutionary and the way forward, the next they've changed their minds, it's a big problem and weight needs to be saved. Laughing

As usual, the truth lies somewhere the middle. Thumbs Up

Keeping looking at it and I'm definitely getting there with the back and the sides its just the front thats so disappointing as its lost the disconess and just looks corporate. Retro D3 style wheel arches, rock sliders and ladder may give it a bit of a boost in the looks department Question

As you can tell, I'm feeling really hacked off and let down by the abandonment of the core values that brought me to LR in the first place Censored This is a designer handbag of a car! Evil or Very Mad

I'm not happy either, but JLR are a very different company to the old Land Rover.

What the likes of you and I and many others on this forum want from the new vehicle, are different to the requirements of the much larger market sector that JLR are targeting with the new Discovery.

If our needs are to meet by a new LR vehicle, it will be in the new Defender range. If that ever materialises! Sad

It's entirely probable that LR would have folded by now had it not gone in its current development direction

I thought we had that already. Just that it's then bolted onto a ladder chassis for good measure. Smile

Hang on a minute, are we sure this isn't some sort of major red herring being put about by Land Rover to confuse us? I think it might be......

Wait until the Paris launch.....

It's just that I think there are major differences between these latest shots and the previous heavily disguised ones, which leads me to think and hope that the real thing might just be better. Plus when do they ever release a vehicle that is more or less exactly the same as a concept?

Discovery Vision with door handles is what you are going to get. Otherwise if it's something different you're going to have to wait a long, long time. Thumbs Up

You are looking at the real thing.

The mule had cladding on it to disguise the shape.

Your optimism is encouraging but, realistically, how different can it look once the few remaining stripes have been removed?

I know it's a boat from the shape...but it would still look different without the stripes Wink

One example would be the Evoque and the LRX concept car that it was virtually identical to. Land Rover have form in taking a glamorous and impractical show car and putting it into production.

If the DS can pull a train, why can't the F-Pace Laughing

An F Pace hasn't got a two ratio gearbox....
The same difference that separates the Disco Sport aka Freelander from the mainstream Landrovers...

Discos 1, 2, 3 & 4
All have a two ratio (normal & low)...
All have a centre differential..
& permanent 4wd

FPace has a single ratio gearbox....driving (I believe) a Haldex gearbox that is the front- back split system that distributes "drive"
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.
